Requirements
  • A Texas Architect license is required; licensure in additional states is a plus.
  • Seven to ten years of professional architectural experience, preferably including significant experience in commercial real estate, office, retail, industrial, mixed-use, or other commercial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience taking projects from concept through construction and construction administration.
  • Strong understanding of commercial building systems, construction methods, detailing, building codes, accessibility requirements, and permitting processes.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including Microsoft Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience reviewing construction documents, consultant drawings, requests for information, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, constructability, and coordination with contractors and consultants.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities in an organized and detail-oriented manner.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate design alternatives and make practical recommendations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of projects and decisions.
  • Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of how architecture supports leasing, tenant experience, operational efficiency, and asset value.
  • Ability to work effectively in an in-office environment in Plano, Texas.
Responsibilities
  • Provide architectural leadership and expertise across the commercial real estate portfolio, including existing properties, redevelopment projects, repositioning initiatives, and tenant improvements.
  • Work with Asset Management, Leasing, Construction, and Property Management teams to understand project objectives and develop architectural solutions aligned with business and investment goals.
  • Support acquisitions and due diligence by evaluating existing conditions, site and building opportunities, zoning and code considerations, and potential redevelopment strategies.
  • Prepare conceptual plans, test fits, site plans, floor plans, elevations, renderings, and presentation materials for evaluation, redevelopment, leasing, and repositioning opportunities.
  • Develop design concepts that support leasing objectives, improve tenant experience and functionality, and maximize asset value, flexibility, and marketability.
  • Lead projects from concept through construction, including programming, planning, design development, construction documents, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.
  • Work directly with company personnel and outside consultants on design, planning, technical, code, and constructability decisions.
  • Lead and coordinate structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, civil, landscape, interiors, signage, accessibility, and other project consultants.
  • Produce and oversee architectural drawings and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Review consultant drawings and deliverables for design coordination, accuracy, completeness, constructability, and consistency with project objectives.
  • Coordinate with jurisdictions, permitting authorities, and other agencies to facilitate approvals and maintain project schedules.
  • Guide permitting, code compliance, requests for information, submittals, shop drawings, field coordination, punch lists, and quality assurance/quality control activities.
  • Participate in construction meetings and site visits; identify design, quality, coordination, and constructability issues and work with the project team to resolve them.
  • Review existing buildings and spaces and develop recommendations for renovations, upgrades, reconfigurations, and capital improvements.
  • Evaluate alternative design approaches and materials based on cost, durability, maintenance, schedule, constructability, and long-term asset value.
  • Assist with budgeting, preliminary cost analysis, value engineering, and scope development throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Balance design quality with constructability, schedule, budget, leasing requirements, building operations, and return on investment.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and ensure architectural deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and issued according to project requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Identify opportunities to improve design and construction processes, standards, and best practices across the company portfolio.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with internal stakeholders, tenants, brokers, contractors, consultants, municipalities, and other project partners.
