About the job
- Grade 10 education and a Government of Alberta-approved Health Care Aide certificate.
- Registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) is required.
- Ability to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment.
- Ability to understand, speak, read, and write effectively in English.
- Observation, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
- Successful candidates must obtain a criminal background check and provide proof of all mandatory immunizations.
- Provide care and support to residents, resident families, and volunteers within the designated scope of practice.
- Respond to residents’ holistic needs by assisting with activities of daily living, promoting choice, maintaining dignity, and facilitating independence.
- Provide resident-centered care in accordance with resident care plans, policies, and procedures, including assisting residents with activities of daily living while maintaining privacy and dignity.
- Accurately and comprehensively document and report care and related observations to a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in a timely manner.
- Monitor, observe, and document residents’ physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and emotional well-being in health care records.
- Contribute to a safe environment for residents, the team, and self by following safety guidelines and practices.
- Follow resident, occupational health and safety, emergency preparedness, and response policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate Bethany’s vision and values and support its mission of creating caring communities.
- Work cooperatively with others as an effective team member.
- Participate with interdisciplinary team members in evaluating and changing residents’ documented care needs.
- Previous Health Care Aide experience is preferred but not required.
