Fire Alarm Technician
About the job
- At least 5 years of experience in fire alarm work; experience with closed-circuit television, intrusion systems, and access control may count.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational or product manuals is required.
- Knowledge of test equipment, multimeters, digital analyzers, and commissioning devices is required.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing 50–70 pounds, is required.
- Ability to work in unusual or difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 40 feet and working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings, is required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements is required.
- Ability to provide strong customer service and maintain organized work practices is required.
- Ability to maintain truck inventory for timely customer response is required.
- Ability to follow, implement, and adhere to safety guidelines and procedures is required.
- A valid driver's license and driving record meeting company requirements are required.
- Passing a pre-employment background check is required.
- Service, inspect, and test fire alarm systems according to prescribed standards.
- Perform on-site emergency troubleshooting.
- Program and repair customer fire alarm systems.
- Identify code and non-conformance issues.
- Prepare accurate and timely service tickets and reports.
- Install fire alarm systems when required.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- A fire alarm license is preferred.
