Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of IT management and supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure and systems administration.
  • Deep knowledge of computer systems and networking, including Wide Area Network technologies, SD-WAN/SASE, and the OSI model.
  • Knowledge of telecommunications technologies, including VoIP systems, call center applications, and phone flow design and system programming.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server environments.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, and enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of Barracuda security solutions, KnowBe4, SentinelOne or similar managed detection and response solutions, and Security Information and Event Management platforms.
  • Knowledge of IT security practices, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for hardware, software, and networking.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call as needed.
  • A valid California driver's license may be required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and security of all IT systems, including end-user devices, servers, storage systems, network infrastructure, and telecommunications systems.
  • Ensure system uptime, performance, and scalability.
  • Manage system installations, upgrades, configurations, and patching.
  • Maintain and test backup, disaster recovery, and redundancy systems.
  • Direct IT helpdesk operations and ensure timely support and resolution for staff technical issues and service requests.
  • Establish service standards, metrics, and reporting processes, and improve customer service performance.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable electronic data security and privacy regulations.
  • Manage user access controls, data protection, cybersecurity, and systems security.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee vulnerability audits, penetration tests, and forensic IT investigations, and use their outcomes to improve cybersecurity.
  • Lead IT projects through planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver technology solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and services.
  • Supervise IT staff and contractors, including helpdesk and technical teams.
  • Recruit, hire, train, discipline, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Provide coaching, professional development, and performance management.
  • Assign and prioritize work to ensure effective team operations.
  • Develop and manage the IT department budget.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory, and lifecycle management of IT assets.
  • Track and report departmental performance and project outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver training on IT systems, applications, and best practices.
  • Create and maintain user documentation and policies.
  • Communicate system updates, outages, and changes to staff.
  • Create and maintain weekly, monthly, and yearly departmental reports through the help desk system.
  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of enterprise dental practice management systems.
  • Collaborate with the IS department to support medical clinic electronic health record systems.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure system integration and workflow efficiency.
  • Support development and implementation of an IT strategic plan aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and care delivery.
  • Support IT performance goals and evaluate service effectiveness.
  • Communicate IT priorities, issues, and innovations to leadership and staff.
  • Represent AHS IT interests in external meetings, partnerships, and conferences.
  • Enforce clinic policies and procedures, including HIPAA client confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate in organization-wide activities, membership meetings, fundraisers, special clinic days, public events, outreach, advocacy, committees, staff retreats, Board of Directors meetings, and quality improvement processes as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with electronic health record and practice management systems and healthcare IT workflows.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CISM, ITIL, PMP, Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, or equivalent.
  • A healthcare background and knowledge of healthcare data privacy and security, especially in nonprofit community healthcare organizations.
  • Experience providing strategic IT direction.
  • Experience analyzing or designing specialized and complex healthcare applications with clinical, financial, or administrative functionality.
  • Experience with healthcare systems, billing, and financial applications.
