Bunkerhill Health names Azita Hamedani first chief clinical officer.

Bunkerhill Health names Azita Hamedani first chief clinical officer. September 10, 2026 Azita Hamedani Bunkerhill Health has appointed Dr. Azita G. Hamedani as its first chief clinical officer, adding an experienced health system executive to oversee clinical strategy as the company expands deployment of its AI agent across hospital clinical, operational and administrative workflows. Hamedani will shape how Bunkerhill's technology is adopted within health systems, bringing an operator's perspective to the development and deployment of its capabilities. Her appointment follows a period of expansion for the company, which has raised $55 million to date, including a Series B led by Khosla Ventures announced in July 2026. Bunkerhill's technology is built around a long-horizon AI agent that health systems assign objectives rather than predefined sequences of commands. The system is designed to continue working toward those goals across multiple applications, workflows and stakeholders, allowing it to coordinate tasks that would otherwise require interaction across separate healthcare systems. Its integrations include electronic health record and enterprise resource planning systems, payer portals, third-party platforms and other healthcare applications. Depending on the workflow, the agent can document information in patient charts, prepare orders for clinician review, communicate with patients and care teams, submit forms and complete actions through external platforms. A forward-deployed Bunkerhill team works with health system personnel to configure and operate those capabilities. The model places the technology inside existing workflows rather than requiring hospitals to manage an isolated AI application, making integration and clinical oversight central to deployment. Hamedani said her career has focused on making care processes more reliable without requiring extraordinary effort from clinicians and staff. "Health systems are now being asked to do three things simultaneously: operate more efficiently, improve care, and prepare for an AI future," Hamedani said. "Bunkerhill gives them a way to pursue all three." The company said its agent is already operating across dozens of hospitals and an expanding range of clinical domains. Cardiovascular risk detection workflows have identified patients who subsequently received open-heart surgery and other cardiac interventions. At the University of Texas Medical Branch, patient access capabilities operating through Bunkerhill have reduced specialist wait times by more than 50%, according to the company. At Cleveland Clinic, the technology identifies patients with actionable findings in radiology reports and helps navigate them to follow-up care, contributing to a double-digit percentage increase in patient volume at the health system's actionable findings clinic. Those deployments illustrate the operational challenge Hamedani will oversee as Bunkerhill expands: connecting AI-generated insights with the downstream actions required to produce a clinical result. Identifying a patient or finding is only one part of the workflow; scheduling, communication, documentation, clinician review and follow-up often span multiple systems and teams. "We are adding capabilities across more clinical domains than at any point in the company's history, and that raises the bar for the clinical thinking behind every one of them," co-founder and CEO Nishith Khandwala said. Hamedani most recently served as president and CEO of UNC Faculty Physicians and vice dean for clinical affairs at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She previously spent nearly two decades at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Health. During her tenure in Wisconsin, Hamedani founded the Department of Emergency Medicine and chaired it for more than a decade while also leading health system initiatives focused on quality and innovation. She earned her bachelor's degree, medical degree and Master of Public Health from Yale University and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. She completed her residency and chief residency at Mass General Brigham and a fellowship in hospital administration at Massachusetts General Hospital. Bunkerhill works with health systems including Cleveland Clinic, the University of Texas Medical Branch and Intermountain Health. The company is backed by investors including Sequoia Capital and Khosla Ventures. As chief clinical officer, Hamedani will focus on the clinical and operational framework behind Bunkerhill's expanding deployments, including how automated workflows interact with clinicians, patients and existing health system infrastructure as the company moves its agent into additional areas of care.

Agentic clinical Platforms. Bunkerhill Health Launched Its Carebricks platform to Run Live Hospital Published Aug 1, 2026 Bunkerhill Health introduced Carebricks, an agentic AI platform designed to run configurable workflows using live clinical and administrative data inside health systems. The company also raised $55 million in Series B funding from investors including Khosla Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Felicis, Optum Ventures and Y Combinator to scale the platform. Carebricks enables hospitals to build agents for tasks including cardiology image review, prior authorizations, patient triage and registry maintenance. Clients include Cleveland Clinic, Intermountain Health and the University of Texas Medical Branch, where more than 20 agents are operating across clinical care, administration and operations. UTMB cited applications including coronary calcium detection and follow-up management for lung nodules. For healthcare providers, Carebricks could reduce repetitive work, prioritize urgent cases and improve coordination across departments. However, its deployment also requires hospitals to establish governance, monitoring and accountability frameworks, reflecting the broader challenge of moving healthcare AI from controlled pilots into routine clinical use. What makes this trend stand out. * Agentic Hospital Workflows - Autonomous AI agents embedded in live hospital systems create openings for adaptive care coordination, dynamic task prioritization and department-spanning automation. * Clinical Governance Layers - As AI moves from pilots into routine care, governance, monitoring and accountability tools become critical infrastructure for safe, auditable deployment. * Automated Care Follow-up - AI-driven detection and registry maintenance expands the potential for earlier intervention, reduced missed follow-ups and more consistent longitudinal patient management. Sectors adopting this. * Healthcare Technology - Platforms that combine clinical data access with configurable AI agents are reshaping software markets around operational automation and care delivery intelligence. * Hospital Administration - Administrative functions such as prior authorization, triage routing and workload management stand to be redesigned through live-data automation embedded in provider operations. * Medical Imaging - Image review use cases such as coronary calcium detection and lung nodule tracking signal new opportunities for AI-assisted prioritization and diagnostic workflow support. 50% Men 50% Women GENERATION * Gen Z * Gen Alpha * Millennial * Gen X Popularity

Bunkerhill Health raises funding to deploy AI agents across hospital systems

Bunkerhill Health has secured additional funding from its seed investor to expand its AI platform for healthcare systems. The company's core product, Carebricks, enables hospitals to create and deploy AI agents across clinical and operational use cases, converting existing hospital data into actionable insights. Founded by Nish Khandwala and David Eng, Bunkerhill emerged from Khandwala's experience at Stanford, where he helped develop an algorithm to detect cardiovascular risk from routine chest scans. The technology remained unused despite being published in Nature Digital Medicine. Carebricks allows health systems to deploy multiple AI agents through a single platform, replacing fragmented vendor solutions. At UTMB Health, Bunkerhill expanded from one agent to over 20 across various specialties. The platform automates manual tasks whilst allowing clinicians to focus on patient care.
