Requirements
- Setting up the patient in the exam room
- Performing and documenting vital signs (manual blood pressures)
- Performing and documenting EKGs
- Reconciliation of medications
- Documenting reason for visit and health care concerns
- Interview with patient about changes in health since last visit
- Assisting the provider with minor surgical procedures
- Preparing appropriate medications for injections
- Handling phone messages, faxes, and medical reception responsibilities as needed
- Knowledge of medical insurance terminology
- Computer skills for scheduling
- Familiarity with general office procedures and equipment
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certificate Medical Assistant
- BLS Certification
- Ability to handle high volume of interactions with frequent interruptions
- 1-3 years of prior experience in ambulatory care (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Set up the patient in the exam room
- Perform and document vital signs including manual blood pressures
- Perform and document electrocardiograms
- Reconcile medications
- Record reason for visit and health care concerns
- Interview patient about changes in health since last visit
- Assist the provider with minor surgical procedures
- Prepare medications for injections
- Manage phone messages, faxes, and medical reception duties as needed
- Have knowledge of medical insurance terminology
- Use computer systems for scheduling
- Be familiar with general office procedures and equipment
Desired Qualifications
- 1-3 years of prior experience in ambulatory care (preferred)
- Experience in ambulatory care setting (if considered separate from required)
- BLS Certification (already in requirements)
