Telecom Field Engineer
About the job
- Requires 1–3 years of experience in a similar position at a telecom provider, with hands-on installation experience with optics, IP, and fixed network equipment.
- Requires a B.Sc./TEI degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecoms, Physics, or Mathematics.
- Requires excellent knowledge of ticketing systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Requires deep knowledge of all aspects of telecom services, from developing a proposition to delivery of items.
- Requires experience serving a large number of customers.
- Requires fluency in spoken and written English.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and perform preventative maintenance and field modifications on customer equipment according to manufacturer or client instructions and agreed service-level agreements.
- Install, modify, uninstall when required, test, and repair equipment and/or software at customer premises according to manufacturer or client instructions.
- Stage, test, clean, and repair equipment at company premises according to manufacturer instructions.
- Maintain customer service logs and internal service records in the required format and in a timely manner; update the knowledge database by recording incident-resolution procedures.
- Report issues in real time and collaborate with the Customer Service Centre and Client Helpdesk to resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse team to manage repair parts and equipment under responsibility.
- Identify recurring field problems, determine possible causes, test them, and report findings to the Telecom team.
- Identify possible solutions to faults with no known solutions, test them, and help the Telecom team update statements of work.
