About the job
- Experience in Cardiovascular Sonographer/Technologist test preparation or a background or experience with the AHF Cardiac & Vascular Ultrasound Program.
- Strong clinical background in adult cardiac and vascular ultrasound.
- Ability to explain complex medical terminology and hands-on clinical skills to learners without a medical background.
- Experience or comfort working with adult learners with neurodiverse needs, including autism, specific learning disability, and anxiety.
- A patient, observant, encouraging, and flexible teaching approach.
- Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with a supportive family.
- Availability for an evening and weekend tutoring schedule.
- Provide individualized one-on-one instruction and test preparation for the Cardiovascular Sonography curriculum to prepare the student for weekly Thursday exams and final certifications.
- Target instruction around medical terminology, anatomy, ultrasound techniques, and practical machine operation.
- Coach the student in building spatial awareness and hand dexterity needed to operate the probe and ultrasound equipment.
- Adapt lessons and communication styles to support neurodiverse learning needs, including autism, specific learning disability, and anxiety.
- Use structured, encouraging, and patient instructional strategies to improve confidence and retention.
- Collaborate with the student's family to align goals and support consistent progress.
- Monitor academic progress and adjust test-preparation strategies for written and practicum evaluations.
