The chain differentiates itself through its large scale and two-brand approach, targeting value-conscious shoppers who want brand-name and designer merchandise at bargain prices. Ross Dress for Less announces October openings for Sicklerville and Somers Point; now hiring. Ross Dress for Less is coming to Sicklerville and Somers Point, New Jersey, with both new stores scheduled to open on October 10, 2026. The retailer is also actively hiring for a variety of positions at both South Jersey locations. (Career Website) Ross is in the middle of an aggressive expansion effort, targeting approximately 110 new locations this year. Just last week, the company opened 35 new Ross Dress for Less stores along with 12 dd's DISCOUNTS locations. (RetailDive.com) A recent Ross video slideshow shared on LinkedIn indicates October 10 will be another significant opening day for the retailer, with several dozen new stores expected to debut across the country. (Linked In) Popular Facebook Page View From Evesham is reporting that Ross is also coming to Voorhees (Facebook Post) Ross Dress for Less Sicklerville. Ross is taking over the former Big Lots store on Cross Keys Road, positioned between PetSmart and Planet Fitness. The recently rebuilt Chick-fil-A is located at the front of the shopping center parking lot. I stopped at the upcoming Sicklerville Ross just a few weeks ago. While the main Ross signage had not yet been installed, banners were displayed on the building announcing the retailer is "Coming Soon." When I first reported the plans in January, construction documents indicated Ross was likely taking over the space, although there was no direct confirmation from the retailer. During a return visit in June, a construction permit displayed in the window clearly identified the project as a Ross store. Work has since progressed significantly. The storefront facade has been refreshed with a new white and blue color scheme matching Ross branding, while crews were also working on the store's interior buildout. Ross Dress for Less Somers Point. A second new Ross Dress for Less will open in Somers Point on October 10. Back in April, I featured Ross as part of an article highlighting 10 new restaurants and retailers coming to Somers Point. The new Ross will be located in Ocean Heights Plaza, taking over the former Staples store. Ross hiring for New Jersey stores. Ross is already hiring for its new Sicklerville and Somers Point stores. The company's career website currently lists dozens of available positions across New Jersey as Ross prepares for both its new store openings and the busy holiday shopping season. The Sicklerville and Somers Point locations require entirely new store teams, with positions including retail associates, store protection specialists, area supervisors, assistant store managers, store managers and other roles... Ross Dress for Less continues expansion. While some national retailers have been shrinking their store footprints, Ross is moving in the opposite direction. Similar to Burlington's recent expansion strategy, Ross has been taking advantage of vacant big-box retail spaces in established shopping centers. Former stores such as Big Lots and Staples can provide large retail spaces with parking, visibility and existing customer traffic. The company is also refreshing existing Ross stores with updated exterior signage and cosmetic improvements. That combination of new store growth and strong sales performance has helped Ross remain one of the country's largest off-price retailers. For South Jersey shoppers, the expansion means two more Ross Dress for Less stores will arrive this fall, with Sicklerville and Somers Point both scheduled to open October 10. Links and locations. Ross Dress for Less is now open in Forney: what to know before you go. August 1, 2026 Forney TX Ross Village at Gateway Kaufman County Ross Dress for Less is now open at The Village at Gateway in Forney, joining Target, H-E-B, and Home Depot in the same 500,000-square-foot first phase on US-80. The store staffed up through hiring events in June and early July 2026 and opened alongside the rest of the summer wave at Gateway. Here's what's actually worth knowing now that the doors are open. Where it is. The Village at Gateway sits on US-80 at FM 460 in Forney, TX 75126 - the same center as Target and H-E-B. Ross is in the inline retail run rather than a standalone pad, so parking is shared with the other value anchors. What Ross actually is. If you've never shopped one: Ross is off-price retail. It buys overstock, closeouts, and canceled orders from department stores and brands, then sells them at 20-60% off department-store prices. There's no e-commerce arm to speak of - the entire model is "come in and see what's on the rack this week." That has real consequences for how you shop it: * Inventory turns constantly. What's there Tuesday is gone Saturday. Regulars stop in often and briefly rather than making one big trip. * Sizes are incomplete. You're buying what a vendor overproduced, not a full size run. * The good stuff moves early in the week. New freight typically hits the floor midweek; weekend shoppers pick over what's left. For most Forney households, Ross earns its trip on a handful of departments: * Activewear and athletic shoes. This is the one worth flagging. Ross regularly carries Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Champion at a fraction of retail. Training shoes, lifting-friendly flats, shorts, and dri-fit tops show up constantly. * Kids' clothes. If you have growing kids in Forney ISD, the math on paying full price stops making sense fast. * Home goods. Towels, kitchen basics, storage, and seasonal décor. * Luggage and bags. Gym bags in particular are usually a third of what you'd pay elsewhere. Both are now open at Gateway, and they overlap more than they differ. The practical distinctions: | / | Ross | Burlington | | Store size | Smaller, ~22-30k sq ft | Similar footprint at Gateway (~22k sq ft) | | Strength | Fast-turning apparel, shoes, home | Coats, kids', baby gear, larger apparel range | | Layout | Dense racks, hunt-and-find | Slightly more organized by department | | Trip length | 15 minutes | 30 minutes | Honest answer: check both, keep the one that fits your family. Most people end up with a preference within a month. Its Burlington Forney guide goes deeper on that side. Why this matters more than it sounds. Forney has added tens of thousands of residents in the last decade, and until recently the local retail mix skipped straight from grocery to specialty with almost nothing in the middle. Value apparel was a drive to Mesquite or Rockwall. Adding Ross and Burlington at Gateway means a family can buy school clothes, work clothes, and gym clothes in Forney - on the same trip as groceries. For households watching a budget in an area where cost of living has climbed, that's not a small thing. A practical note on gym clothes. Ross is now probably the cheapest place in Forney to buy activewear, so one honest piece of advice: buy for function, not for the logo. What actually matters in a gym: * Shoes with a flat, firm sole for lifting. Thick, squishy running shoes make squats and deadlifts less stable. A cheap flat-soled trainer beats an expensive cushioned runner for strength work. * Shorts or leggings you don't have to adjust. If you're pulling at your waistband between sets, you'll do fewer sets. * A shirt you don't mind sweating through. Buy three of the $8 one, not one of the $40 one. That's genuinely it. Nobody at the gym is evaluating your outfit - everyone is looking at their own set. Train two minutes down the road. TX has been at 127 E US Highway 80, Forney, TX 75126 for over 25 years, on the same corridor as Gateway - about five minutes from the new Ross. Grab your clearance training shoes, then come break them in. No annual fee, weekday hours starting at 5 AM, and a supervised Kids Zone for members with kids.
