What believers are saying

  • July 2026 standalone vault expands Spreedly’s entry point beyond full orchestration deals.
  • Adidas joined in 2026, and second-half 2025 bookings doubled, signaling enterprise momentum.
  • Kushki and EBANX partnerships deepen Latin America coverage where local acquiring decides approval rates.

What critics are saying

  • Stripe’s private-preview orchestration threatens Spreedly’s routing moat by bundling payments and checkout.
  • IXOPAY, Primer, and Gr4vy keep winning buyers with broader stacks and faster self-serve onboarding.
  • If Priceline and other testers standardize on agentic channels elsewhere, Spreedly’s AI narrative stalls.

What makes Spreedly unique

  • Spreedly’s portable vault keeps credentials reusable across 100-plus providers without re-vaulting.
  • Its orchestration stays PSP-agnostic, letting merchants preserve routing control and merchant-of-record status.
  • Agentic commerce support now extends existing integrations into AI-driven checkout flows.

Liminal expands leadership team with Rivka Little as Chief Operating Officer and Randy Guard as Chief Marketing Officer. Operations and go-to-market leaders join Liminal as the company scales its intelligence platform. September 15, 2026 09:01 ET | Source: Liminal NEW YORK, Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Liminal, the intelligence platform for companies building and selling identity, fraud, financial crime, and security products into complex, regulated markets, today announced two additions to its executive leadership team: Rivka Little as Chief Operating Officer and Randy Guard as Chief Marketing Officer. The appointments strengthen Liminal's leadership team as the company grows its business and builds on momentum in a fast-growing category. Rivka and Randy join at a pivotal moment, bringing decades of combined experience in operations, go-to-market strategy, and enterprise growth to support the company's next phase of expansion. Rather than selling the products themselves, Liminal provides the intelligence those companies run on. "Rivka and Randy are exactly the kind of leaders we need as we scale Liminal into its next chapter," said Travis Jarae, Co-Founder & CEO at Liminal. "Our growth to date has been built on a decade of buyer evidence and a product our customers trust. Adding proven operators of this caliber gives us the leadership depth to execute against an ambitious plan: to change how market intelligence and advice get bought in this category, and to put Liminal's evidence and the agents built on it directly in the hands of strategy, product, and go-to-market teams. The path ahead for Liminal and our customers looks very strong." Rivka Little Joins as Chief Operating Officer Rivka joins Liminal as Chief Operating Officer, where she will lead operations and cross-functional execution across the business while partnering closely with the executive team to scale Liminal's operations, go-to-market, product, and delivery functions. Rivka brings more than 15 years of experience across fraud, identity, and payments. She joins Liminal from Socure, the AI-driven identity verification and fraud prevention platform, where she most recently served as Chief Growth Officer after four years as Chief of Staff to the CEO, helping shape the company's strategy, operations, and market expansion. Earlier in her career, Little held executive positions at Goldman Sachs, NICE Actimize, and IDC, where she led business units and shaped go-to-market strategy across the financial crime and identity landscape. "Liminal has built something rare: a platform that the industry's most sophisticated teams actually rely on, backed by category expertise that's hard to replicate," said Rivka Little. "What drew me here is Liminal's relentless focus to arm every executive, commercial, and product team with intelligence tools and agents so they can innovate and accelerate their paths to market. I'm excited to join Liminal and to turn that momentum into repeatable growth." Randy Guard Joins as Chief Marketing Officer Randy joins Liminal as Chief Marketing Officer, where he will lead the company's brand, positioning, and market presence, overseeing demand generation, messaging, and audience strategy across the identity, fraud, and cybersecurity markets Liminal serves. Randy brings extensive product, marketing, and go-to-market leadership experience across enterprise software. Prior to joining Liminal, Guard served as Chief Marketing and Product Officer at Spreedly, where he helped scale a global payments platform. The executive previously served as Chief Marketing Officer at SAS, where he led marketing, product strategy, and industry go-to-market initiatives. Guard also served as Spreedly's Chief Product and Marketing Officer for several years, and he began his career at Accenture. Guard holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering. "Liminal has a strong brand built on unmatched expertise in the industries we serve," said Randy Guard. "My focus is building on that foundation and delivering this expertise through our platform and our team so that every customer and prospect can turn this intelligence into action and growth in their market. This is a category where the winners will be decided by who knows their market best, and I look forward to working with the team and our customers to deliver on that vision." About Liminal Liminal is the intelligence platform for companies building and selling identity, fraud, financial crime, and security products into complex and regulated markets. We help you get the decision right, then get there first: where to play, what to build, how to win, what to charge, and where to invest. We give your strategy, product, and commercial teams reach. Your own data covers your customers and your pipeline. Ours covers the buyers who did not choose you. Liminal is built on buyer survey data and a demand-led taxonomy that maps demand to supply at the level of the use case, so you can see where real demand and actual supply meet, and where they don't. Ecommpay joins PayControl as direct acquirer on orchestration layer.

Ecommpay joins PayControl as direct acquirer on orchestration layer. * home * Ecommpay joins PayControl as direct acquirer on orchestration layer. Ecommpay has gone live as a direct acquirer and payment method provider within PayControl's enterprise payment orchestration platform, the two companies confirmed on 30 July 2026. The integration means merchants already using PayControl can route transactions through Ecommpay's gateway and acquiring network without adding a separate integration. PayControl, founded in 2025 and headquartered in London, operates a modular, provider-agnostic orchestration layer that is designed to run inside a merchant's own private cloud environment. The platform uses contextual AI to support routing decisions and positions data sovereignty, rather than centralised processing, as its primary commercial differentiator. Ecommpay, founded in 2012 and also London-based, holds FCA authorisation under the Payment Services Regulations 2017 and is a fully licensed principal member of both Mastercard and Visa. Its platform covers more than 100 payment methods alongside acquiring, open banking and recurring billing capabilities. The deal. The commercial logic of the arrangement is relatively straightforward. PayControl gains a direct-acquiring partner with established card-scheme licences and multi-region coverage, which adds credibility to its connector catalogue while it remains early-stage. Ecommpay gains distribution into PayControl's enterprise merchant base without the overhead of building its own orchestration product, complementing existing orchestration capabilities it describes as already built into its core platform. Nathan Salisbury, chief executive of PayControl, said the partnership allows enterprise merchants to access full-stack acquiring and flexible routing through a single integration, while retaining data sovereignty and control over every transaction and routing decision. Roy Blokker, head of strategic sales at Ecommpay, described PayControl as a startup built around a shared mission of improving payment solutions for merchants. The release did not disclose any commercial terms, revenue-share arrangements or the number of merchants currently on the PayControl platform. PayControl's founding date of 2025 means the company has a limited operating history, and no funded round was disclosed in this announcement. Market context. The payment orchestration market has become notably competitive. Established orchestration providers such as Gr4vy, Spreedly and Payrails, alongside the orchestration layers embedded within large processors and gateways, all compete for the same enterprise merchant wallet. The differentiating propositions tend to cluster around three axes: network breadth, smart routing performance and, increasingly, deployment model. PayControl's private-cloud positioning is a genuine point of differentiation from the dominant SaaS-hosted model, appealing to merchants in regulated industries or those with strict data-residency requirements under frameworks such as GDPR and the EU's Digital Operational Resilience Act. Ecommpay's FCA authorisation and principal membership of the card schemes is a meaningful credential in this context. Many connector relationships on orchestration platforms run through aggregator models; a direct acquirer relationship can offer tighter pricing and faster settlement, which matters to high-volume enterprise merchants. The partnership's durability will depend on how quickly PayControl can scale its merchant base to a volume that makes the connector relationship commercially significant for Ecommpay. The next markers to watch are whether PayControl discloses a formal funding round, and whether either company announces named enterprise clients that can substantiate the platform's claimed performance at scale.

Spreedly launches standalone payment vault to give merchants control over credentials

Spreedly has launched a standalone payment vault that allows merchants to securely store and control their own payment credentials without adopting a full payments orchestration platform. The Durham, North Carolina-based company processes over $60 billion in gross merchandise value for more than 400 customers across 100 countries. The vault offers PCI DSS Level 1 tokenisation and portable payment credentials that work across more than 100 payment providers. It includes network tokenisation and Account Updater services to improve authorisation rates. CEO Justin Benson said merchants increasingly want control over payment credentials, which now determine payment performance. The vault allows merchants to maintain flexibility whilst using a single provider per region, with the option to expand capabilities later without re-vaulting. Stored credential transactions now represent 40% of Spreedly's platform volume, up from 34% in 2022.

The digital commerce sphere is experiencing an unprecedented surge in innovation, with a consistent stream of new ecommerce tools designed to equip merchants for the future. As reported by Practical Ecommerce on March 11, 2026, the latest advancements span a wide array of functionalities, from hyper-personalized localized shopping experiences to sophisticated AI-driven operational intelligence and robust fraud prevention. This installment delves into the cutting edge of technology, presenting solutions that promise to redefine efficiency, enhance security, and scale growth for online businesses globally. Table of Contents Analysis. The latest wave of new ecommerce tools is characterized by a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence and deeper platform integrations, driving both personalization and operational efficiency. In the realm of localized commerce, the strengthened partnership between Klaviyo, a leading marketing automation platform, and Shopify is pivotal. Their enhanced interoperability now includes a multi-market data foundation with Locale Aware Catalogs, automatically synchronizing translated content, regional pricing, and market-specific URLs. This eliminates the complexities of managing multiple catalogs, enabling merchants to deliver truly personalized global experiences without significant overhead. A major theme is the maturation of agentic commerce, where AI agents act on behalf of consumers. Mastercard and Google have co-developed Verifiable Intent, an open standards-based trust layer providing cryptographic proof of authorization for transactions initiated by AI. This standard, aligned with Google's Agent Payments Protocol and Universal Commerce Protocol, is crucial for establishing trust and a shared source of truth across the ecosystem. Payment providers like Splitit are actively backing Google's Universal Commerce Protocol to integrate flexible payment options, such as card-linked installments, directly into these AI-powered retail experiences. Similarly, Nexi Group has launched its Model Context Protocol, an open-source framework enabling AI agents to integrate payment capabilities via conversational commands, and Spreedly has made agentic commerce a live channel within its open payments platform, facilitating agent-initiated transactions through interfaces like ChatGPT and Gemini. Operational automation through AI is also seeing rapid advancement. Feedoptimise has introduced its AI Feed Agent, an in-platform assistant that leverages AI to audit, troubleshoot, and optimize product feeds faster, providing guidance tailored to channel requirements. CommerceIQ has unveiled a comprehensive suite of retail AI agents for sales, digital shelf, content, and retail media, capable of handling high-volume tasks and optimizing performance using up to 50 distinct signals. Furthermore, ZyG has launched an agentic operating system specifically for ecommerce, offering a marketability test to estimate product scale and allowing AI agents to manage the digital layer on a flexible pay-as-you-grow model. This suite of new ecommerce tools collectively transforms backend processes, from inventory routing to shipping optimization. In logistics and customer experience, the partnership between smart locker company Bloq.it and U.K. parcel delivery service Evri aims to expand Evri's out-of-home network by installing hundreds of smart lockers with returns functionality. This initiative significantly enhances convenience for consumers and streamlines return processes for merchants. Concurrently, Riskified, a platform specializing in ecommerce fraud prevention, has expanded its AI agent intelligence to secure native merchant AI shopping assistants, programmatically resolving identity and applying rules to manage risks associated with agent-initiated order volumes. This proactive approach to fraud is vital in an increasingly automated commerce environment. Finally, for data-driven insights, Celerant Technology's Cumulus Analytics provides independent merchants with curated dashboards and 10 essential reports covering sales, customers, and inventory, while Revuze offers an AI platform to connect TikTok Shop performance with 360-customer intelligence, allowing brands to analyze content and link performance with broader customer feedback. Why it matters. The introduction of these new ecommerce tools signifies a crucial shift towards a more intelligent, automated, and globally integrated commerce ecosystem. For merchants, these advancements are not just incremental upgrades but represent strategic imperatives for sustained growth and competitiveness. Enhanced localized commerce capabilities, exemplified by the Klaviyo-Shopify integration, enable brands to penetrate new markets efficiently and offer truly bespoke customer journeys, a significant differentiator in an increasingly globalized retail environment. The development of robust frameworks for agentic commerce, backed by industry giants like Mastercard and Google, is laying the groundwork for a future where AI facilitates frictionless transactions, dramatically improving conversion rates and customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the substantial investment in platforms like Cart.com highlights investor confidence in unified commerce solutions that integrate logistics, payments, and AI-driven automation. This capital infusion will accelerate the development of sophisticated predictive analytics and agentic AI, promising to reduce operational costs and shipping times, thereby boosting profitability. The focus on AI for operational tasks, such as product feed optimization by Feedoptimise and the multi-signal retail media optimization by CommerceIQ, allows merchants to reallocate human resources from mundane tasks to strategic initiatives. Finally, proactive fraud prevention tools from Riskified and comprehensive analytics from Celerant and Revuze are essential for maintaining trust and making informed business decisions, protecting both revenue and brand reputation in a dynamic market. Adopting these new ecommerce tools is paramount for any business aiming to thrive in the complex digital economy. Share the Post:
