  • Eligibility for appointment to the Active Staff, Nova Scotia Health, Eastern Zone.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the education of residents and students through preceptorship, mentorship, and role modeling in a supportive clinical learning environment while working with family physicians, medical learners, nurses, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated care.
  • Develop and sustain an impactful research program advancing the Cape Breton Medical Campus Research Mandate.
  • Collaborate with Cape Breton University, Dalhousie University, and Nova Scotia Health colleagues on research initiatives focused on family medicine, particularly rural family medicine in Nova Scotia and Canada.
  • Support and mentor medical students, residents, graduate students, and non-research faculty undertaking research.
  • Foster a culture of research excellence, collaboration, and learner engagement across clinical and academic settings.
  • Obtain local, national, and international research funding.
  • Publish research in academic peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research at local, national, and international conferences.
  • Pursue leadership and academic career development opportunities.
  • Hold academic appointments at Cape Breton University and Dalhousie University through the Cape Breton Medical Campus.
  • Report to the Senior Associate Dean at the Cape Breton Medical Campus.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Vice President Research and Innovation at Cape Breton University to grow health research benefiting the Cape Breton Medical Campus and Cape Breton University.
  • Collaborate with the Head of the Department of Family Medicine at Dalhousie University.
  • Work full-time across academic and clinical activities, with 0.4–0.6 FTE research and 0.4–0.6 FTE clinical work as an independent practitioner.
  • Work some evening and weekend hours to enhance patient access.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master of Science, Master of Arts, or Doctor of Philosophy in a related health research discipline.
