HeadSpin launches API-powered image injection to automate camera workflows on real devices

HeadSpin, a global leader in digital experience testing, has launched Image Injection, an API-driven feature that enables QA teams to automate camera workflows on real mobile devices. The tool allows teams to inject predefined images directly into a device's camera feed, eliminating the need for physical props or manual testing setups. The capability addresses testing challenges for camera-dependent features across banking, retail, social media and productivity apps, including check deposits, ID verification, barcode scanning and optical character recognition. Image Injection integrates with Appium and CI/CD pipelines, supporting scalable automation on real iOS and Android devices. The feature is now available, with HeadSpin offering demonstrations to enterprises. CEO Eric Hatton said the innovation enables faster feedback and higher confidence in app quality for previously difficult-to-automate camera features.

HeadSpin launches ACE, AI-powered testing tool that auto-generates and maintains test scripts

HeadSpin has announced ACE by HeadSpin, a generative AI-powered software testing solution that automatically creates and maintains test scripts. The system captures UI DOM at every step and autonomously generates validated scripts, forming a closed-loop system designed to eliminate technical debt. ACE allows teams to describe test scenarios in simple language, which are then converted into executable test scripts. When application elements change, the system automatically adjusts scripts without manual intervention, reducing automation failures and maintenance overhead. The solution executes tests on real devices with live networks, helping teams identify performance issues earlier in development. HeadSpin targets organisations in telecom, media, financial services, retail and mobility sectors. Further details about ACE will be released in coming months.

HeadSpin sold in fire sale: $117M raised

Canadian private equity firm PartnerOne has acquired HeadSpin in a fire sale, with most former employees receiving nothing for their options. HeadSpin's founder was sentenced to prison for fraud earlier this year. The company raised $117 million since 2015 and was last valued at $1.1 billion in 2020. The acquisition price was likely between $20M and $40M. Employees were informed their options were canceled as they were "underwater." The CEO, COO, and CTO were let go.
