  • Strong C++ and Python programming skills are required.
  • Hands-on experience with physics engines is required.
  • The candidate must be able to build and scale high-performance, physics-based simulation environments.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and extend physics engines such as MuJoCo and Newton.
  • Scale and optimize GPU-based physics simulators for massive training workloads.
  • Improve the realism of contact-rich manipulation environments.
  • Create tools and automated workflows to validate, tune, and optimize physical and visual assets.
Desired Qualifications
  • A strong mathematical and physics background, particularly expertise in rigid-body dynamics, soft-body dynamics, contact mechanics, finite element analysis, and numerical stability.
  • Experience across the entire simulation stack, from computer-aided design import and mesh optimization to real-time rendering.
  • Experience with reinforcement learning, policy training, differentiable physics, or neural simulation models.
  • A background in contact-rich manipulation or legged locomotion.
  • Strong knowledge of GPU acceleration and robotics model formats, including URDF, SDF, and USD.
  • Proven success deploying simulation-trained policies onto real-world hardware.

Eka Robotics builds transport robotics systems that use automated guided vehicles, control software, and fleet management tools to move materials and automate handling. The platform trains robot controllers in simulation with self-supervised learning and then transfers the learned policies to real robots through sim-to-real reinforcement learning. It differentiates itself with a team from MIT, Berkeley, Harvard, DeepMind, and Boston Dynamics and a focus on physical AI, combining robotics, perception, control, and fleet management in one platform. The goal is to enable machines to automatically learn about their environment and continuously improve, delivering autonomous transport robotics and embodied intelligence for robotics and drones.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Eka raised roughly $13 million seed capital in March 2026 for runway.
  • Eka posted eleven roles in July 2026, signaling aggressive hiring across robotics stacks.
  • The April 2026 launch and MIT-linked founders attract customers, recruits, and future investors.

What critics are saying

  • Eka disclosed no customers or industrial partners through July 2026, delaying revenue.
  • VFA remains unproven outside demo videos; benchmark failures can kill the company quickly.
  • Figure, Tesla, and Physical Intelligence already chase similar manipulation markets and talent.

What makes Eka unique

  • April 29, 2026, Eka launched VFA, treating force as a first-class sensory signal.
  • Pulkit Agrawal and Tuomas Haarnoja combine MIT reinforcement learning and DeepMind robotics pedigrees.
  • Eka trains contact-rich manipulation in simulation, targeting unknown objects and environments.
