  • Obtained Bachelor's degree or in process of obtaining
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent work experience considered

Responsibilities
  • Participate in a two-week immersive onboarding program covering insurance fundamentals, systems training, workflows, and professional development
  • Complete licensing coursework and on-line Insurance 101 curriculum within defined timelines
  • Learn and utilize agency management systems and Microsoft Office tools to support daily operations
  • Assist service teams with administrative and account support tasks under supervision
  • Participate in carrier presentations and training sessions to understand carrier relationships and insurance products
  • Attend cohort meetings, leadership sessions, and ongoing training throughout the program
  • Meet defined milestones for licensing, coursework completion, and performance expectations
  • Obtain and verify rates using multiple quoting platforms
  • Ensure all rate data is accurate and aligned with client specifications
  • Prepare client facing proposals inclusive of medical, dental, vision, life, short term, long term, voluntary and other insurance products
  • Generate Excel-based illustrations for financial modeling with a high degree of accuracy
  • Review client census data and reconcile discrepancies by cross-referencing carrier invoices and client-provided information
  • Communicate with clients to clarify and confirm data as needed
  • Prepare and distribute Requests for Proposals (RFPs) following established standard processes and follow up with stakeholders as needed until completion
  • Interact with internal teams and clients via email, virtual meetings, and occasionally by phone
  • Collaborate with team members to support proposal development and client deliverables

People moves: TDCI, Hilb announce new roles, new faces. March 3, 2026 The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance announced personnel changes at the department this week. Michael Barber, with 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, was named director of the Consumer Insurance Services section. Barber joined TDCI in 2018 as a consumer insurance investigator, then worked as consumer insurance services manager, the department said in a statement. In 2025, the consumer section handled more than 5,100 consumer complaints and returned some $15 million to policyholders. Also, Peter Roth joined the department as director of business process improvement. He will oversee ways to streamline processes, improve efficiency and increase productivity by working with Insurance Division staff and with industry stakeholders, the department said. He is a retired Green Beret with management experience who previously worked with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Hilb Group, a major insurance brokerage based in Virginia, named Rob Nesselt as its Southeast platform leader. Nesselt will oversee growth and business development in the region, Hilb said in a news release.
