Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of barber experience is required.
- Completion of secondary school education, an equivalent barber certification/program, or Red Seal is required.
- Experience in a camp setting is an asset.
- Must be able to exert physical effort in walking, lifting, bending, and transporting goods using a cart or other equipment.
- Must be able to perform various physical movements throughout work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times during work periods, and communicate satisfactorily with guests and coworkers so they understand.
- Must be able to stand for long periods.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Must be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy items up to 50 pounds.
- Must undergo and pass a medical exam before starting work.
- Must have a good attendance and disciplinary record.
- A valid driver's license is an asset.
- Must adhere to Sodexo's anti-bullying and harassment policies in a multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and consult with them about their instructions or preferences.
- Cut and trim hair according to clients' instructions using clippers, combs, hair dryers, and scissors.
- Style hair using chemical solutions and styling tools.
- Shave, trim, and shape clients' beards and mustaches.
- Clean and sanitize combs, scissors, razors, and other instruments after each use.
- Provide hairstyle suggestions to clients and stay up to date on current trends.
- Use the point-of-sale system to take payments and process refunds.
- Clean and disinfect work areas and tools.
- Order supplies and take inventory.
- Sell and promote hair supplies, lotions, tonics, and other cosmetics as needed.
- Take guest bookings and maintain an orderly work schedule.
- Organize shift schedules in collaboration with Retail Managers.
- Train and supervise other barbers and barber apprentices as needed.
- Maintain a designated storage space separate from client supplies for operators' personal items, such as food, medication, clothing, and personal grooming items.
- Conduct Toolbox Safety Talks.
- Complete audits and daily area inspections of work areas in collaboration with Sodexo Managers.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with departmental policies, service procedures, standards, and British Columbia Health Guidelines for Personal Service establishments.
- Follow site grooming guidelines and dress code.
- Perform other reasonable job-related duties assigned by a manager.
- Comply with Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
- Report accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Attend designated training programs, including classroom and virtual training.
- Attend all shifts at the posted schedule times.
- Adhere to site travel policies, including airport check-in times and the Sodexo flight no-show policy.
