Requirements
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Sonography, or Cardiovascular Credentialing International for cardiac departments.
  • Sonographers must obtain certification within twelve months of eligibility or cross-training.
  • Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, or obtain it within 90 days of employment.
  • For breast ultrasound, ARDMS certification and current registration, ARRT post-primary certification and current registration in breast sonography, or ARRT certification and current registration with MQSA qualification.
  • For breast ultrasound, complete five continuing education units specific to breast ultrasound.
  • For breast ultrasound, maintain regular performance of breast ultrasound examinations.
  • Registered technologists must comply with the continuing education requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services, including credits pertinent to their ACR-accredited clinical practice.
Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound scanning equipment to produce records of designated portions of the human anatomy for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Desired Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology.
  • Prior experience in ultrasound.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist.
