Disney is making some improvements to Fubo. October 2, 2026 Disney's live TV streaming service Fubo has begun rolling out updates to its sports search tools and has opened limited access to a voice-driven query feature still marked as beta. The changes center on how subscribers locate games and related video, with the company describing the work as an effort to reduce the steps needed to reach a specific matchup or play. The revised search accepts combinations of team names, nicknames, abbreviations, sport labels, and the word game in a single entry. A user can therefore type or speak strings such as Texas Longhorns, Michigan Football, or Bears game and receive matching results without first selecting a league or date filter. The company has not published usage figures for the updated search, nor has it stated whether the same flexible matching will extend to non-sports content in the near term, according to a post by Fubo on Reddit. Separately, a conversational interface called Ask Fubo is available in beta from the upper left of the Sports page on Apple TV, Roku devices equipped with a microphone, Android TV, and LG televisions. Mobile applications are expected to receive the feature shortly, though no firm date has been given. The tool is designed to accept spoken or typed questions and return short clips when the underlying recording exists in the user's cloud DVR. At present, the system is limited to football plays. Questions about whether a named player appeared in a preseason contest, or whether a particular team scored touchdowns in a recent game, can surface the relevant segments if those games were recorded. The company has noted that the feature depends on DVR storage and does not retrieve live or on-demand material outside the user's saved library. Engineers are still addressing inconsistencies in how the system interprets questions and how clips are presented. Planned work over the coming months includes interface adjustments and an expansion that would let subscribers ask about upcoming programming schedules for both sports and entertainment channels. No timeline has been attached to the schedule function, and the company has not indicated whether the conversational layer will eventually cover basketball, baseball, or other leagues. The updates arrive as streaming services continue to compete on discovery tools rather than solely on channel lineups. Fubo has not disclosed how many subscribers currently have access to the beta, nor has it released accuracy rates for the voice queries. Subscribers on supported devices can reach the experimental search from the Sports page without an additional subscription tier. The company has invited feedback on the beta while it continues development, but it has not described a formal testing program or a date when the feature might leave beta status. Days left to apply for $50 million settlement over Disney, streaming prices. by: Addy Bink Posted: Sep 6, 2026 / 10:17 AM CDT Updated: Sep 6, 2026 / 03:36 PM CDT (NEXSTAR) - Subscribers of certain streaming platforms may qualify for payment in a $50 million settlement reached in a lawsuit filed against Disney. An antitrust lawsuit was brought against The Walt Disney Company by subscribers of YouTube TV, DirecTV Stream, and FuboTV. They accused Disney of "engaging in various forms of conduct to raise the prices of Streaming Live Pay Television." Disney, which also owns Hulu and ESPN, allegedly used its size to "inflate prices marketwide by raising the prices of its own products," the lawsuit said. Specifically, the plaintiffs accused the company of dramatically inflating prices since taking control of Hulu in 2019. The plaintiffs are seeking "damages as well as injunctive relief to halt and unwind Disney's anticompetitive practices." If you qualify, you have just days to file a claim. Who qualifies for payment in the settlement? If you purchased a subscription for YouTube TV or DirecTV Stream (including DirecTV Stream, DirecTV Now, and AT&T TV Now) between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2026, you may qualify. There hasn't been a settlement with FuboTV plaintiffs so far, meaning subscribers do not qualify for this process. How large will my payment be? Not $50 million. A portion of the settlement will be used for administration costs and other fees. What remains will be split between two groups of settlement members: those in "repealer jurisdictions" and those in "non-repealer jurisdictions." Ninety percent of what remains in the settlement fund will be used to pay class members in "repealer jurisdictions." That includes Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Guam, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wisconsin. The remaining 10% will be used for payments to those in a "non-repealer jurisdiction," which includes Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, or Wyoming. You will receive a pro rata, or equal share, cash payment that is "proportional to the length of your YouTube TV and/or DirecTV Stream subscription," settlement administrators explain. You can receive a cash payment for both subscriptions; you'll need to include information for both when submitting a claim. How long do I have to apply? You have until Sept. 8, 2026, to file a claim online or by mail. You can complete your claim and find more information here. Qualifying subscribers of YouTube TV and DirecTV Stream were sent notices in the mail or by email, the settlement administrators say (you may have to check your spam folder to find it). That notice contains a Unique ID that you'll use to submit your online claim. It's not yet clear exactly when payments will be sent out. The settlement requires final approval from the court, and objections can stall the process. A final approval hearing has been scheduled for January 2027.
