A bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education from an accredited university is required.
A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements is required.
Extensive content knowledge and operational knowledge of all aspects of an orchestra program are required.
Knowledge of state and University Interscholastic League policies pertaining to orchestra is required.
The candidate must be able to manage budgets and personnel, implement policies and procedures, and interpret data.
Working knowledge of relevant technology is required.
The candidate must have effective leadership, communication, public relations, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
The candidate must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
The candidate must be able to perform frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; move and set up content-area equipment; and move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, classroom equipment, and supplies.
The candidate must be able to accommodate some districtwide and statewide travel and prolonged or irregular hours.
Responsibilities
Assist the head orchestra director in directing and managing the orchestra program for the assigned school.
Provide students with curricular and extracurricular orchestra activities in accordance with District, University Interscholastic League, and Texas Education Agency requirements.
Assist the head orchestra director in developing an annual calendar of student performance opportunities and events, including major concerts and required region and state competitions and evaluations.
Maintain student eligibility records for University Interscholastic League and extracurricular activities.
Prepare students for Frisco Independent School District Solo and Ensemble and University Interscholastic League Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluations.
Prepare students for and actively participate in the Texas Music Education Association All-Region orchestra audition process.
Provide opportunities for student participation in extracurricular events.
Assist with arranging transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
Comply with federal and state laws, Texas Education Agency rules, University Interscholastic League rules and regulations, and Frisco Independent School District Board and Fine Arts Department policies.
Follow Frisco Independent School District policies regarding oversight of booster organizations where applicable.
Participate in campus musicals and collaborative events as determined at the campus level.
Collaborate with directors in the same feeder pattern and across the District.
Develop and implement orchestra rehearsal lesson plans and provide written lesson plans as required.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
Plan and use instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect the learning styles and needs of assigned students.
Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessments of student achievement.
Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' physical, social, and emotional development.
Maintain educational records demonstrating student mastery and growth in curricular content.
Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Accompany and supervise students during on-campus and off-campus activities.
Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Coordinate fundraising activities and manage proceeds with the head orchestra director.
Maintain the department's current inventory of fixed assets with the head orchestra director.
Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Present information accurately and clearly using effective communication skills.
Conduct conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers as needed.
Work with campus and District colleagues to develop a positive school climate and promote collaborative teaming.
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Compile, maintain, and file physical and computerized professional-development reports, records, and documents as required.
Attend and actively participate in required District Professional Learning Communities.
Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Maintain current knowledge of innovative and effective curriculum practices related to the content area.
Actively participate in official state organizations, including the Texas Music Education Association and University Interscholastic League.
Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
Assist the head orchestra director in the direction and management of the orchestra program for the assigned school. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in curricular and extracurricular orchestra activities in accordance with all District, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements.
Qualifications

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Programming:
Assist the head orchestra director in the development of an annual calendar of student performance opportunities and events with at least three major concerts and all required region and state competitions and evaluations.
Maintain eligibility records of students as they pertain to UIL and extracurricular activities.
Prepare students for participation in Frisco ISD Solo and Ensemble and UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluations
Prepare students for participation and actively participate in the Texas Music Education Association (TMEA) All-Region orchestra audition process.
Provide opportunities for student participation in extracurricular events.
Assist the head orchestra director with the arrangement of transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
