Requirements
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing for long periods; sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting items weighing 40 pounds or less; and using manual dexterity and auditory and visual skills.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect and clean food preparation equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
  • Regulate ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and other equipment to store and cook food at the correct temperature.
  • Check food and ingredient quality, track old and new items, rotate stock, and follow food labeling and dating procedures to ensure freshness.
  • Monitor, cook, and prepare foods to determine whether they are sufficiently cooked, using tasting, smelling, or food thermometers.
  • Prepare stations according to company guidelines and supervisor direction.
  • Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
  • Season, weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes with supervisor guidance, using kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables for consumption.
  • Carve, trim, and prepare meats and seafood for hot or cold service.
  • May bake breads, rolls, cakes, and pastries.
  • May wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.
  • Compile and maintain food usage records.
  • May assist with inventory.
  • Follow food specification amounts provided by the supervisor and assist in forecasting preparation needs.
  • Prepare and serve food to customers in a timely manner.
  • May support culinary staff at multiple stations as directed.
  • Communicate kitchen equipment and supply needs to the supervisor.
  • Follow and promote company standards for safety, food handling, sanitation, uniform guidelines, and productivity.
  • Provide customer service by being attentive and approachable and by greeting and thanking customers.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
