Requirements
  • At least five years of work experience estimating civil grading and concrete work, shop fabrication, and structural projects.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, Project, Outlook, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods and use arms and hands to reach for, handle, or manipulate objects.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift heavier items with assistance.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors during inclement weather and remain seated for long periods.
  • Manual dexterity for repetitive tasks and operating standard office equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to work from a vehicle up to 25% of the time while quoting or visiting customers.
  • Willingness to travel overnight up to 5% of the time.
  • Compliance with the company's drug-free workplace policy, including pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, and random drug testing.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare project cost estimates for industrial contracting, including civil dirt and concrete work, shop fabrications, and structural steel elements; focus on civil dirt, site grading, and concrete, with possible field estimates for mechanical or structural support work.
  • Work with clients, departmental staff, material suppliers, and subcontractors to formulate project cost estimates.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, construction drawings, and other project documentation to prepare labor and material estimates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to support bidding and estimating.
  • Conduct site and bid walkthroughs and confer with engineers, designers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors about estimates and changes to estimates.
  • Conduct studies to establish standard-hour and related cost data that drive cost reduction.
  • Review material and labor requirements to determine whether components are more cost-effective to construct or subcontract.
  • Work with the shops on fabrication methodology, including jig construction and assembly techniques.
  • Propose bid alternates, provide value engineering, and develop cost-competitive solutions.
  • Prepare labor, material, and subcontractor schedules of value, as well as procurement and deployment projections.
  • Conduct high-level scope reviews and project-management briefs.
  • Prepare scopes of work based on client guidance or management direction.
  • Analyze historical bid data and actual project costs to improve estimating practices and procedures and maximize success rates and profitability.
  • Deliver the project turnover package to project management upon contract award and provide ongoing project support as needed.
  • Follow company policies, the Safety Manual, and OSHA safety rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Procore experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a similar field of study; relevant prior experience may be substituted.
