Requirements
  • A Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, or a related field and at least 5 years of non-academic work experience in criminal justice or a related field, or a PhD degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Juris Doctorate, or a related field and at least 3 years of non-academic work experience in criminal justice or a related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in Criminal Justice or a related field at the college or university level; teaching-assistant experience at the college or university level satisfies this qualification.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Teach five courses per academic year and oversee the department's internship program, with one internship section per semester.
  • Teach key courses needed in the curriculum, particularly criminal justice systems-related courses such as corrections, policing, courts, comparative criminal justice, terrorism, and ethics.
  • Coordinate and manage the undergraduate internship program as the instructor of record for the internship course in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters, including helping students in the Criminal Justice/Criminology and Sociology programs obtain internships, developing new opportunities, supervising students, and assessing internships.
  • Engage in professional development, advising, and service activities.
  • Perform supplemental functions as directed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating, developing, or assisting with student internships.
  • Ability to teach areas of curricular need related to criminal justice systems, including corrections, policing, comparative criminal justice, ethics, or terrorism.
  • Demonstrated excellence in college- or university-level teaching using applied, practice-based approaches.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to the undergraduate program through traditional classroom instruction and online education.
  • Ability to develop partnerships with agencies or organizations for internships, field experiences, and collaborative projects.
