About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience with Nutanix administration, including initial cluster design, deployment, and setup.
  • At least 5 years of experience with Nutanix multi-tenant environments, including installation, administration, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization, compute, storage, networking, and production infrastructure.
  • Experience building, operating, and supporting highly available private cloud or virtualized environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex issues across multiple infrastructure layers.
  • Experience planning and executing infrastructure changes in production environments.
  • Experience participating in an on-call rotation and responding to production incidents.
  • Ability to work effectively in unfamiliar or legacy environments and make safe, incremental improvements.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools as part of day-to-day technical work.
  • Clear written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team across multiple time zones.
Responsibilities
  • Own platform features end to end within the Private Cloud Solutions domain, taking work from specification through implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing production support across Nutanix and VMware environments.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain private cloud infrastructure using Nutanix platforms and related virtualization technologies to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure customer environments.
  • Build and operate multi-tenant Nutanix environments, including cluster design, deployment, administration, lifecycle management, and ongoing maintenance in shared production environments.
  • Improve platform reliability and operational efficiency by identifying opportunities to automate repetitive work, standardize configurations, and reduce operational risk.
  • Translate requirements into clear technical specifications by identifying dependencies, capacity needs, failure scenarios, and operational risks early, and resolving ambiguity before implementation begins.
  • Verify changes before they reach production by validating platform changes, exercising failure scenarios, and providing clear evidence that changes are safe and production-ready.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools as part of the daily workflow for implementation, automation, and review, while remaining accountable for the quality and operability of the final result.
  • Review infrastructure and technical changes from other engineers, identifying design, scalability, reliability, and operational risks early and providing clear, actionable feedback.
  • Own the systems operated by participating in the on-call rotation, responding to incidents, documenting root causes and follow-up actions, and continuously reducing operational toil.
  • Work safely in existing and unfamiliar environments by understanding complex or legacy infrastructure, making incremental improvements without unnecessary redesigns, and leaving systems better documented and instrumented.
  • Mentor other engineers by sharing technical knowledge, explaining design and operational decisions, and supporting less experienced engineers through implementation and review.
  • Coordinate dependencies across teams by identifying cross-team requirements early and working directly with the relevant engineers to avoid delivery blockers.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience with Linux administration.
  • Experience with VMware administration and virtualization environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management.
  • Experience with multi-tenant private cloud platforms.
  • Experience in managed hosting, cloud platforms, or another high-availability service environment.
  • Experience reviewing infrastructure changes and mentoring other engineers.

Nexcess adds Acronis threat detection and response to managed cloud servers

Nexcess, a managed cloud provider, has launched Acronis Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) as an add-on for its managed cloud servers. The software watches how programs behave on a server, flags activity that looks like an attack, and keeps a record of what happened. It is available from October 19, 2026, to any eligible customer. Nexcess handles setup, so customers install nothing. Those already running Acronis Backup or Disaster Recovery can use the Acronis agent on their servers. Alerts appear in the Nexcess portal, showing the affected server, severity, what was caught, and whether it was contained. The service is billed on one invoice. "We want to give our customers one partner for the server and the protection on it," said Michael Ohayon, general manager of managed cloud at Nexcess.
