- Current Basic Life Support (CPR/AED) certification
- Implements treatment most appropriate to the patient’s learning style and therapeutic needs, communicating goals with the patient and/or family members, considering psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and/or families based on plan of care developed by the Physical Therapist.
- Provides therapeutic interventions for a wide variety of physical and/or functional limitations related to, but not limited to musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, and developmental impairments, documenting progress with measurable and functional goals.
- Maintains patient records according to hospital policy, completing progress and treatment notes, charges, and discharge summaries within regulatory and departmental time guidelines.
- Assists in adjusting schedules to accommodate changes in caseload in the department. Meets with PT on regular basis to discuss patient and set goals.
- Contributes to the overall performance of the department through professional development strategies, including, but not limited to competency training, clinical instructor, in service coordination, program leader, attendance of meetings, mentor to new hires and performance improvement ideas.
- Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in education offerings, independently achieve and maintain CEUs for South Carolina Licensing and Regulatory Board (SC LLR).
- Communicates with physicians, other medical personnel and members of the interdisciplinary medical team regarding treatment provided, patient’s progress or complications, recommendations, and clarification of orders.
- Utilizes appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patients and staff. Ensures an orderly, clean and safe work area.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

The Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) Foundation received a $75,000 gift from McLeod Health as part of the organization's $375,000 pledge made in 2024 to support the Nursing and Health Sciences Institute on the College's Grand Strand Campus. The 2026 contribution represents the third installment of McLeod Health's multi-year support for the institute. The partnership reflects a shared dedication to preparing highly skilled nurses and allied health professionals to serve Horry, Georgetown and surrounding communities. McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 2 JULY 2026 As a partner in nursing education for the region, McLeod Health has made a contribution of $75,000 to Coker University's Nursing Program. Nursing represents the nation's largest health care profession and the largest single component of hospital staff. "McLeod recognizes the enormous value of the nurse's contribution in patient care," said Tony Derrick, Chief Nursing Officer for McLeod Regional Medical Center. "Providing patient advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, participation in shaping health policies and patient education are also key nursing roles. "This gift is a small token of appreciation for Coker University's dedication to educating future nurses and allied health professionals." Coker University launched its undergraduate nursing program in Fall 2022 and has quickly expanded its offerings to include Health Professional to BSN (HP-BSN), RN to BSN, RN to MSN, Master's Entry to Practice Nursing (MEPN), an online MSN with Education and Leadership tracks, and the university's first doctoral program - the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). The gift from McLeod Health will support program development and accreditation, the creation of an on-campus simulation center where students can practice foundational and advanced skills, and scholarships for nursing students. McLEOD HEALTH 4 JUNE 2026 (Florence, SC, June 4, 2026) - As a partner in nursing education for the region, McLeod Health has made a contribution of $25,000 to Williamsburg Technical College's (WTC) Nursing Program. Nursing represents the nation's largest health care profession and the largest single component of hospital staff. "McLeod recognizes the enormous value of the nurse's contribution in patient care," said Tony Derrick, Chief Nursing Officer for McLeod Regional Medical Center. "Providing patient advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, participation in shaping health policies and patient education are also key nursing roles. Williamsburg Technical College offers many healthcare-related programs such as Healthcare Certificate, Medical Office Administration, Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant, Practical Nursing, and an Associate Degree in Nursing (RN). In the last three years, WTC has maintained a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX for the RN program, being the only Technical College in South Carolina to boast that honor. The nursing programs are rigorous, including classroom instruction, simulation lab practice, and clinical site rotations. Students are known by name, and the faculty maintains an open-door policy, always making time for advisement and support. Dr. Heather Anderson, Dean of Nursing at WTC, states, "The passion and care exhibited by our faculty reflect the heart of the profession, inspiring future nurses to lead with empathy, integrity, and expertise. This combined with state-of-the-art facilities, and hands-on clinical training equip students with the knowledge, confidence, and real-world experience they need to succeed." Williamsburg Technical College now owns the former Williamsburg Regional Hospital building and is currently in the process of renovations to become an expansion of their campus and provide the necessary accommodations to expand the allied health program offerings. The donation from McLeod will support the health science simulation labs and classrooms with necessary cutting-edge equipment to enhance instruction and mirror real-world healthcare settings to continue this legacy of high-skilled nurses entering the local workforce. We are proud of the education we are able to provide our service area with our current facilities, but we are excited about the opportunity to diversify those offerings in a state-of-the-art facility. McLEOD HEALTH 26 MAY 2026 McLeod Health was recently honored at the University of South Carolina College of Nursing's 2026 Spring Convocation with the Outstanding Health Agency Award. Charity Gerald, Associate Vice President of Talent Strategy for McLeod Health, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. During the presentation, Kelly Niermeier, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, offered these remarks: "The Outstanding Health Agency Award recognizes a clinical partner that demonstrates exceptional commitment to student learning, collaboration, and professional growth.
