AlphaStreet Newsdesk powered by AlphaStreet Intelligence Power Integrations surged 5.3% to close at $54.25 on Friday as semiconductor stocks rallied broadly, with the company riding a wave of strength across sector peers. The stock joined four other semiconductor names in posting strong gains, with the group showing coordinated upward momentum that lifted Power Integrations' market cap to $3.1 billion. Stocks & Bonds The rally reflected widespread buying across the semiconductor space. Diodes Incorporated climbed 6.3%, Navitas Semiconductor advanced 4.2%, and Power & Digital Infrastructure Acquisition Corp jumped 9.3%. The strongest move came from Wolfspeed, which surged 11.0%. Power Integrations' 5.3% gain positioned it in the middle of the pack among this group of sector peers, all of which saw buyers step in during Friday's session. Trading volume came in at 164,908 shares as investors participated in the sector-wide move. The coordinated gains suggest a broader shift in sentiment toward semiconductor names rather than company-specific news driving the action. When multiple stocks in a sector move together with this kind of magnitude, it often signals either rotation into the space from institutional investors or a reaction to macro factors affecting the entire group. The challenge for investors now is determining whether this rally has legs. Sector-wide moves can be powerful but fleeting, especially when they're not anchored to specific fundamental catalysts like earnings beats or product announcements. Power Integrations will need to demonstrate its own operating momentum to sustain gains beyond a broad-based sector rotation. Company Earnings What to Watch: Monitor whether semiconductor stocks can hold these gains in next week's trading, and watch for any company-specific catalysts from Power Integrations that could justify further upside independent of sector momentum. Volume trends will be key to gauging whether institutional money is genuinely rotating into the space or if this was a one-day move. Power Integrations unveils 4th generation of pioneering CAPZero x-capacitor discharge IC family. September 16, 2026 Power Integrations, the leader in high-voltage integrated circuits for energy-efficient power conversion, expanded its industry-leading CAPZero family of X-capacitor discharge ICs with the introduction of the CAPZero-4 device for industrial and consumer applications. Power Integrations pioneered the X-capacitor discharge function, which disengages the energy-consuming discharge resistor in an AC-DC power supply until the device is unplugged and the resistor is needed to safely bleed power from the X-capacitor. The latest iteration, the CAPZero-4 family, reduces system no-load and standby input power by up to 1000 mW - critical when total system standby power requirements can be as low as 300 mW. This is achieved by a device which consumes less than 1 mW to support zero-watt no-load operation. It also features a wide operating temperature of -40 deg. C to 125 deg. C to support demanding outdoor industrial applications. "CAPZero-4 makes it easy for our customers in industrial and consumer markets to meet increasingly stringent standby and no-load requirements," said Edward Ong, senior product marketing manager at Power Integrations. "The fourth generation of our CAPZero technology delivers more of the available power to the load during standby. With its pin-to-pin and package compatibility with previous CAPZero devices, customers can adopt it without redesigning, making it an ideal solution across a wide range of markets." CAPZero-4 ICs meet the needs of the appliance, display, adapter, and industrial markets supporting AC-DC converters with line-to-neutral input capacitance between 100 nF and 6 μF. It is ideal for appliances requiring ErP Lot 6 compliance and adapters requiring ultralow no-load consumption (less than 300 mW). By eliminating the losses typically caused by the X-capacitor bleed resistors, the technology increases the available standby power for embedded power supplies that must meet strict standby power limits. Since introducing the technology in 2010, Power Integrations has shipped more than one billion CAPZero ICs. Key features include: * Ultra-Low Power Consumption below 0.75 mW at 230 VAC, enabling solutions with zero no-load power. * Extended Operating Temperature from -40 deg. C to 125 deg. C to support industrial, outdoor, and other harsh-environment applications. * Drop-In Replacement through package and pin-compatibility with CAPZero-3, enabling easy migration to the new family. Designing with the CAPZero-4 is simply a matter of selecting the appropriate external resistor values to meet the necessary X-capacitor discharge time. * Global Safety Compliance - designs using CAPZero-4 meet IEC 60335, EN/IEC 62368-1 (NEMKO), UL 62368-1, and GB 4943.1 (CQC) standards.
How new energy saving IC will impact Power Integrations stock. September 15, 2026 * Power Integrations recently introduced its CAPZero-4 X-capacitor discharge ICs, targeting industrial and consumer gear that must meet very tight standby power requirements, support wide temperature ranges, and comply with multiple global safety standards. * The new CAPZero-4 family is pin compatible with earlier CAPZero parts, which lets existing customers upgrade to lower standby losses without a redesign and can limit engineering time and qualification costs. * We will now look at how the investment narrative for Power Integrations could be shaped by CAPZero-4's focus on ultra low standby power performance. Scan beyond Power Integrations and see how other efficiency driven chipmakers are positioned with our hand picked 60 AI infrastructure stocks as interest in low standby power solutions increases across data centers and connected devices. Power Integrations investment narrative recap. For a shareholder in Power Integrations, the core belief is that demand for high efficiency power conversion keeps broadening across appliances, industrial gear, EVs and data infrastructure. CAPZero-4 fits that story because it tightens standby power performance within existing sockets, which supports the case that the portfolio can stay relevant as efficiency rules tighten. In the near term, the more pressing swing factors still appear tied to appliance cyclicality, tariffs and the slow ramp in newer markets like automotive and AI data centers. CAPZero-4 helps the product mix, but it does not directly change concentration in consumer appliances or address approval risks with large computing customers. The CAPZero-4 launch matters because it focuses on efficiency at the low power end while Power Integrations is also pushing high voltage GaN for EVs and AI data centers. That pairing gives the product set exposure to both cost sensitive appliances and premium density applications, which can be useful if any one segment stalls. Investors watching catalysts may see CAPZero-4 as another proof point that the firm is still iterating on long running franchises. The bigger operational question is how consistently this type of product update converts into design wins in geographies affected by tariffs, and whether it provides time for higher value segments to contribute more of total revenue. Power Integrations' narrative projects revenues of $690.7 million and earnings of $160.0 million by 2029, which implies forecast revenue growth of 15.4% per year and an earnings increase of about $134.9 million from earnings of $25.1 million today. Uncover why Power Integrations' fair value indicates a 65% potential upside to its current price that may not last much longer. Exploring other perspectives.
