Requirements
  • A high school education or equivalent is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification is required, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and computer skills are required.
  • The apprentice must complete 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training.
  • The apprentice must complete 364 hours of unpaid supplemental coursework.
  • The apprentice must attend three in-person lab days to practice and demonstrate mastery of hands-on technical skills.
  • The apprentice must log and report on-the-job hours and skill practices as required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for visits and obtain patient histories and vital signs.
  • Track and document clinical quality measures in the electronic health record.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and charting.
  • Administer medications and immunizations within the Medical Assistant Apprentice scope of practice.
  • Coordinate referrals, laboratory work, and specialty care.
  • Support providers seeing an average of 18–21 patients per day.
  • Provide customer service using the AIDET model.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ambulatory or family medicine experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish capability is strongly preferred.
