Requirements
  • High school graduation.
  • Ability to read electrical prints and schematics.
  • Ability to use a multimeter to read voltage, current, and resistance.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring and component connections in accordance with Underwriters Laboratories and UL 508A.
  • Proficiency in industry electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code, American National Standards Institute, National Fire Protection Association, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, point-to-point wiring schedules, and schematics.
  • Identify inconsistencies in drawings and discrepancies in paperwork and raise questions during the assembly process.
  • Commit to assembly deadlines or notify the Panel Shop Manager when deadlines may slip.
  • Work with the electrical engineering team to resolve issues.
  • Cut wire to specified sizes, strip wire, and fasten terminal connections in preparation for assembly.
  • Wire electrical components and label all devices and wires.
  • Determine whether components require repair and repair them when necessary.
  • Use common hand tools to prepare and assemble components, DIN rail, and wire duct to complete electrical panels according to print.
  • Choose appropriate wire colors and gauges to complete wiring according to applicable codes, specifications, and regulations.
  • Maintain safe work habits and a clean, safe work area.
  • Perform field wiring of control cabinets into machinery when needed.
  • Assist engineers and electrical control technicians with machine startup and debugging.
  • Arrange for packing and shipment of panels.
