Sycomore AM launches European equity fund targeting the region's industrial autonomy

Sycomore Asset Management (AM), a French asset manager that is part of the Generali Investments ecosystem, has launched Sycomore European Strategic Sovereignty. The equity fund invests in European companies that support the region's industrial autonomy. It covers companies of all market capitalisations, with a focus on France, Italy, and Germany. More than half of the portfolio is expected to go to companies valued at under €20 billion. Its themes include digital transformation (artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and data centres), energy independence and critical infrastructure, critical materials and industrial value chains, and security. Security and defence companies face strict screening on human rights, governance, sales traceability, and controversy management. The fund will apply Sycomore AM's exclusion policy on controversial weapons. Hugo Mas and Alban Préaubert, specialists in European small and mid-cap equities, manage the fund.
