- Provide airway management, tracheostomy capping, blood gas sampling and analysis, and patient and family education.
- Follow all protocols, policies, procedures, and hospital values to provide a positive patient experience.
- Calibrate and troubleshoot diagnostic equipment and implement new test modalities.
- Assist in overseeing supply inventory.
- Mentor other staff, including orienting and supervising the work of new sleep technicians.
- Provide coverage as needed.

Newest location brings convenient walk-in pediatric care to families in northern communities Families in northern Montgomery County and surrounding communities now have greater access to convenient pediatric care with the opening of Dayton Children's newest Kids Express location in Vandalia. Located at 792 Northwoods Blvd., Vandalia, OH 45377, the new Kids Express officially opens to patients on August 4 and provides walk-in care for children with minor illnesses when their pediatrician's office is closed or when same-day appointments aren't available. Designed specifically for kids and staffed by pediatric experts, Kids Express offers families trusted pediatric care close to home. "Kids don't just get sick during regular business hours," said Dr. Lisa Ziemnik, division chief for Kids Express at Dayton Children's. "Our new Vandalia Kids Express makes it easier for families in northern communities to get expert pediatric care when they need it in a convenient location close to home." The Vandalia location treats children from 6 weeks to 18 years old for common conditions including: * Cough, cold and flu symptoms * Fever * Ear pain * Sore throat * Pink eye * Rashes * Sinus infections * Lice * Sports physicals The new location is the northernmost Kids Express and reflects Dayton Children's ongoing commitment to bringing pediatric care closer to where families live, work and go to school. With the addition of Vandalia, Dayton Children's now operates six Kids Express locations across the region. Dayton Children's Hospital in Ohio has gone live with Sectra's ophthalmology solution, expanding its enterprise imaging platform beyond radiology. The system consolidates imaging from multiple specialties into one platform, allowing clinicians to review patient histories in a single location. The solution integrates ophthalmology images from various camera types, which were previously stored across separate systems. Clinicians can now access ophthalmology imaging alongside radiology studies within Sectra's existing platform. Dr Abiodun Omoloja, chief medical information officer at Dayton Children's Hospital, said the unified system enables clinicians to review complex paediatric cases spanning multiple specialties without switching between systems. The hospital went live with the solution during Sectra's 2025/2026 fiscal year, following a two and a half-year contract. The system is expected to handle 2,000 ophthalmology examinations annually.

Dayton Children's Hospital Set to Expand Pediatric Services with New Rehabilitative Facility Families connecting to services early is key to getting children with disabilities started on the right path in life. Dayton Children's Hospital is expanding access to pediatric services with that in mind. Dayton Children's Hospital will break ground on a new facility specifically for pediatric rehabilitative services. The single-level building, located at 437 Valley St, adjacent to Ronald McDonald House will feature enhanced space for physical, speech, and occupational therapies, along with specialized areas for children with autism, sensory challenges, and outdoor therapy space to meet rising demand, per an article in Spectrum News. Dayton Children's Hospital shared the following facts about what rehabilitative services focus on in an announcement about the upcoming expansion: * Physical therapy: Focuses on improving gross motor skills, strength, balance and coordination associated with movement disorders, developmental delays and injuries * Occupational therapy: Focuses on improving fine motor skills, sensory processing and emotional regulation to help children function independently in daily life, such as playing, learning, and self-care. * Speech therapy: Focuses on challenges with speech, language, social communication, feeding and swallowing to improve communication skills. Terry Weigel, Director of Rehabilitative Services at Dayton Children's Hospital is quoted sharing his feelings about the improved services and new building in the announcement on the hospital website about the upcoming expansion. "New tools and techniques require more space to use and store. This new building will allow us to continue to provide the above and beyond Dayton Children's experience for our families and kids," he said. Deborah Feldman, CEO of Dayton Children's Hospital, also shared her feelings on the expansion in the announcement. "Rehabilitative services change lives, and this building will allow us to meet growing needs for years to come," she said. Dayton Children's Hospital names new CEO, who will take over July 1. Published March 31, 2026 at 1:35 PM EDT Dayton Children's Hospital has named Dr. Robert Steele as its new CEO. The pediatric hospital, which serves the Dayton metro, has been searching for a new leader to replace retiring CEO Debbie Feldman. Steele will begin his new job on July 1. He started his career as a pediatrician and has worked as a health care executive in Missouri and Arkansas. "In Rob Steele, we found the right mix of family first medicine, business acumen and strategic leadership that we were seeking. We look forward to what the future holds," Todd Pleiman, Dayton Children's Board of Trustees chairperson, said in a statement. Steele was a pediatrician for 17 years. He also worked in leadership roles at Children's Mercy Kansas City (chief strategy and innovation officer) and at Arkansas Children's (chief strategy officer) and Mercy Springfield Communities (president, after rising from other leadership positions).
