Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a commercial painter.
  • Working knowledge of diverse types of paints, stains, finishes, and wall coverings.
  • Proficient in sheetrock repair and framing techniques.
  • Ability to interpret manufacturer literature for the installation, preparation, use, and upkeep of materials.
  • Fluency in job-related English, both verbal and non-verbal, and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks.
  • Physical ability to transport 10 lbs. regularly, frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift/move more than 100 lbs.
  • Any building trade license/certificate from the state of Florida.
  • Computer literate.
  • Communicate satisfactorily with guests, management, owners, and co-workers to their understanding.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Repair and maintain all painted surfaces, including preparing and installing various paints and wall coverings (e.g., wallpaper, vinyl).
  • Perform sheetrock repairs and framing tasks as required.
  • Strip and refinish furniture in guest and resident rooms.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, residents, management, and co-workers, addressing any concerns promptly and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Organize materials, tools, and equipment for daily assignments, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness of work areas.
  • Adhere to preventive maintenance schedules for guest rooms and public areas, coordinating with the engineering administrator.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance to ensure aesthetic and safety standards are met.
  • Maintain par stock levels of paint, brushes, wallpaper, stains, and other supplies. Communicate requisition needs to the Chief Engineer/Supervisor.
  • Use appropriate paint and adhesive types for various surfaces.
  • Apply the latest techniques for mixing formulas for paints, acrylics, epoxies, sealers, concrete paints, stains, and varnishes.
  • Ensure proper ventilation and storage of flammable and toxic materials.
  • Perform framing and sheetrock repair tasks with precision and efficiency.
  • Operate high-reach lifts and other equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with any special projects assigned by supervisors, including carpentry work and room maintenance tasks like caulking bathtubs and grouting tile.
  • Participate in departmental and staff meetings, contributing ideas for energy saving and safety improvements.
  • Train other staff members, sharing knowledge and skills to foster team development.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time logs and maintenance reports.
  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving and review status of assignments with the Supervisor.
