Requirements
  • Major UK transport consultancy experience in the development planning market.
  • Clear evidence of achieving multiple high-profile planning consents as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A proven track record in transport development planning consultancy.
  • A proven network of contacts and a track record in business development with the potential to provide genuine additionality.
  • A track record of project delivery in the private and public sectors.
  • The ability to represent clients as an expert witness and at public inquiries.
  • The ability to lead stakeholder engagement with local authorities, politicians, and senior officers or officials.
  • The ability to identify commercial, reputational, and contractual risks and lead senior teams to mitigate them.
Responsibilities
  • Enable growth of the UK transport Development Planning business across existing accounts and opportunities with new clients.
  • Work with Client Relationship Directors to cross-sell transport development planning work into existing and new sectors, geographies, and clients.
  • Provide national technical leadership for transport development planning, working with the Development Planning Practice Leader to deliver high-quality work.
  • Direct business development, account direction, and work-winning activities.
  • Win and direct large, complex projects and proposals as bid or project director.
  • Take responsibility for the financial and commercial performance of the relevant market area or geography.
  • Secure positions on government development frameworks and collaborate with partners.
  • Mentor and supervise team members.
  • Act as an active work winner in UK development planning and contribute to the company’s reputation for delivering excellence.
  • Present on major projects at conferences and industry events to raise the company’s profile.
  • Lead the production and delivery of proposals and marketing materials related to the Development Planning and Design Practice.
  • Be accountable for the growth and profitability of the Practice.
  • Adapt project delivery to external factors and government policy.
  • Serve as a role model within the company and mentor senior colleagues.
  • Proactively identify commercial, reputational, and contractual risks and lead senior teams in mitigating them.
