Mendaera rolls out handheld needle robot paired with Butterfly ultrasound probe.

Mendaera rolls out handheld needle robot paired with Butterfly ultrasound probe. Mendaera announced its handheld robot for needle-based procedures is now available to pair with Butterfly Network's (NYSE:BFLY) portable, chip-based ultrasound probe, following the companies' long-running collaboration. The Focalist robotic image-guided system assists clinicians in aiming to place IV lines, deliver nerve blocks or otherwise access organs and vasculature without additional specialized training. After FDA clearance in July 2025, its first procedures included removing kidney stones through minimally invasive nephrolithotomy. Mendaera signed up as the first partner in the Butterfly Embedded technology licensing program, shortly after the developer's debut in 2023, with a commercialization deal that included sharing the revenue of every combined unit sold.
