About the job
- At least 3 years as a Registered Nurse or 6 years as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, with current licensure in the state where applying to teach.
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing; a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or credentials required by state regulations.
- Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Vocational Nursing.
- Current knowledge of nursing practice and broad knowledge of nursing sciences.
- Ability to mentor students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Successful handling of day-to-day operations in the nursing lab.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Current knowledge or experience in a clinical setting.
- Current immunizations and Basic Life Support certification.
- Continuously improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and using innovative teaching methodologies and techniques.
- Demonstrate or acquire skills in using online activities to enhance course content during interactive teaching and learning.
- Assist with reviewing and revising syllabi for specific courses and instructional guidelines.
- Submit required program reports and forms to the program director in a timely manner.
- Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
- Maintain student attendance, grade, and skills check-off records, and assist with program data collection by established deadlines.
- Assist with updating and maintaining student files related to clinical requirements, immunizations, and educational requirements.
- Teach courses at varying times and locations as program needs require.
- Teach lecture content and clinical rotations, which may take place during days or evenings on weekdays or weekends.
- Participate in professional development, maintain continuing education hours for licensure renewal, and stay current with college updates.
- Participate in assigned committees as availability permits, prioritizing teaching responsibilities.
