Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field is required.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in interpersonal violence response, trauma-informed care, or a related field is required, preferably in a campus setting.
  • A Master's degree in counseling, social work, or another clinical field is required.
  • Current New Hampshire clinical licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, or eligibility for licensure within 90 days of hire, is required.
  • Experience providing crisis counseling, support, or advocacy services to diverse populations is required.
  • Confidentiality training under New Hampshire Revised Statutes Annotated 173-C, consisting of at least 30 hours through a New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence crisis center, or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of hire, is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with flexibility and adaptability in response to change, are required.
  • Excellent judgment and the ability to handle sensitive issues, maintain confidentiality, and navigate clients experiencing emotional escalation are required.
  • The ability to balance multiple projects and priorities while working effectively in a collaborative environment is required.
  • The ability to work some nights and weekends is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, administer, evaluate, and continuously improve power-conscious and trauma-responsive advocacy services for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Create and implement policies and practices for advocacy services in partnership with the Director, consistent with best practices, New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence program standards, and grant requirements.
  • Oversee advocacy services provided by staff and volunteer advocates, ensuring ethical, legal, and best-practice delivery.
  • Develop and implement evaluation methods for advocacy services, including New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence client feedback surveys.
  • Participate in New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence Direct Services Coordinator and Shelter Manager cohort meetings.
  • Manage confidential client records and the client database, including data entry, verification, reporting, and compliance with campus, state, and federal requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of advocacy services into the Vela client database.
  • Train and supervise staff in use of the client services database.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports representing the center's advocacy work.
  • Provide one-on-one remote and in-person advocacy to students, faculty, and staff who have experienced interpersonal violence at all University of New Hampshire campuses.
  • Assess and identify culturally relevant services based on individual needs and experiences.
  • Provide emotional support and validation, trauma education, and crisis counseling as needed.
  • Collaborate with survivors to create individualized emotional and physical safety plans.
  • Accompany survivors to meetings, appointments, protective order hearings, Title IX investigations, and other university, civil, and criminal justice proceedings.
  • Provide accompaniment, transportation, and support during medical examinations, including sexual assault forensic examinations at local hospitals.
  • Identify and facilitate referrals to university and community-based resources.
  • Serve in rotation with the Director as Final Support Staff on the 24/7 helpline for complex matters.
  • Supervise the Survivor Advocate, on-call backup advocates, student graduate or undergraduate interns, and other advocacy services staff.
  • Develop agendas and facilitate biweekly case review meetings.
  • Recruit, train, and retain student volunteers to maintain 24/7 helpline coverage and comply with program standards and New Hampshire Revised Statutes Annotated 173-C.
  • Oversee training and volunteer record-management compliance.
  • Oversee onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of new professional staff providing advocacy services.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with campus and community stakeholders for referrals, resource sharing, policy development, and practice development.
  • Serve as a content expert for the university community regarding interpersonal violence and trauma-responsive services.
  • Assist with training and development for campus and community partners.
  • Support projects, events, and initiatives within the University of New Hampshire Division of Student Life.
  • Facilitate interactive community tabling, SHARPP 101, and SHARPP Jeopardy presentations.
  • Create and implement survivor-centered and trauma-informed engagement activities.
  • Design and implement advocacy-related social media posts, website content, resource cards, and brochures.
  • Assist with SHARPP Center events and initiatives, including Take Back the Night and End-of-Year Celebration.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with college students is preferred.
  • Experience supervising others is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of interpersonal violence, Title IX, the Clery Act, and related statutes is preferred.
