Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Previous general computer experience with data entry is required.
  • The ability to sit for extended periods, up to eight hours at a time, is required.
  • Continual use of fingers for writing and computer entry is required.
  • The ability to hear normal conversation and good general near and peripheral vision are required.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills are required.
  • The role requires compliance focus, continuous growth, quality orientation, service orientation, and strong time management.
  • The employee must be able to work from home in accordance with the Network Work from Home Policy if needed.
Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls and schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments within established time frames and protocols.
  • Use questioning techniques to determine how requests should be scheduled, when to refer calls to a clinic, and when to escalate calls to a nurse for immediate attention.
  • Coordinate services as needed.
  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Provide a positive patient experience and attempt to resolve patient issues or concerns during the call within the scope of the role.
  • Manage assigned referral work queues and provide supplemental inbound patient-call support during high-volume periods.
  • Use judgment to prioritize and accommodate patients based on their needs.
  • Participate as a team member in resolving identified problems.
  • Escalate scheduling or insurance issues to the Patient Engagement Supervisor or Patient Engagement Manager.
  • Meet productivity, schedule-adherence, and quality standards established by the Access Center.
  • Work with designated clinical partners to establish and maintain appointment-scheduling protocols and positive partner relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to two years of demonstrated customer-service excellence in a contact center is preferred.
  • Previous healthcare experience with medical terminology is preferred.
  • Previous experience with an electronic medical record is preferred.
