About the job
- Complete at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education, equal to 60 semester hours; or obtain an associate's degree or higher; or meet a rigorous standard of quality through an approved formal state academic assessment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness as appropriate.
- Provide supplemental instructional support to eligible students.
- Deliver interventions based on instructional plans developed by the Title I Teacher or General Education Teacher through small-group or individualized instruction, tutoring, guided practice, or other teacher-directed techniques.
- Report intervention outcomes to the Title I Teacher or General Education Teacher by maintaining daily student outcome reports.
- Administer assessments and screeners to support decisions about Title I eligibility, interventions, progress monitoring, and student exit from the Title I program.
- Attend parent/teacher conferences as needed to support communication about student performance, behavior, and other topics.
- Maintain student files as required by federal, state, and local guidelines and protect the confidentiality of student records and information.
- Maintain activity logs and time-and-effort documentation that comply with regulatory requirements.
- Communicate constantly with Title I Teachers and General Education Teachers about Title I student progress and concerns.
- Serve as an active member of teams such as the Response to Intervention team, data team, Positive Behavior Support team, or school improvement team.
- Assist the teacher in communicating and upholding school-wide behavior and conduct expectations and maintaining a safe and secure classroom environment.
- Provide evidence of successful student and parent relations through prior personal or professional experience.
- Demonstrate proficiency in an instructional support capacity through prior tutoring, teaching, or similar work experience.
