Requirements
  • A PhD in immunology or a related field, with substantial immunology training and typically 15 or more years of relevant experience, including significant industry experience in small-molecule discovery.
  • A track record leading cross-functional small-molecule programs from hit identification through development candidate nomination, with ownership of biology strategy, stage gates, and milestones.
  • Deep expertise in innate and/or adaptive immunology and extensive experience with primary-cell and ex vivo studies, including multiparameter flow cytometry and relevant functional readouts.
  • Experience designing and interpreting in vivo efficacy, pharmacodynamic, and mechanistic studies, including model selection, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, species translation, and biomarker strategy.
  • Experience developing and transferring robust assay cascades to contract research organizations or automation/high-throughput screening platforms, using orthogonal assays and counterscreens to confirm on-target activity and control for donor variability and assay artifacts.
  • Strong people leadership and executive communication skills, including mentoring, performance management, team development, and data-driven recommendations.
Responsibilities
  • Define and execute biology strategies for small-molecule discovery programs, translating disease and immune biology into in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo evidence packages that guide medicinal chemistry from hit identification through development candidate nomination and investigational new drug-enabling studies.
  • Lead immunology strategy from target validation and hit identification through lead optimization, development candidate nomination, and investigational new drug-enabling studies, integrating disease biology with structure-activity relationships, DMPK/PK/PD, safety, target engagement, and translational biomarkers.
  • Oversee disease-relevant studies using primary human immune cells, whole blood or peripheral blood mononuclear cells, and tissues to assess mechanism, potency, selectivity, target engagement, and immune function while accounting for donor variability and biological context.
  • Define and oversee efficacy, mechanistic, and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies, including model and species selection, endpoints, exposure-response relationships, tissue pharmacology, and translation to human biomarkers; critically interpret results.
  • Drive cross-functional decision-making with Chemistry, DMPK, Safety, Translational, and Computational teams, and partner with artificial intelligence and machine learning scientists to apply computational approaches that accelerate hypothesis generation, data interpretation, and program decisions.
  • Lead project teams, set scientific direction, and manage and develop scientists and associates.
  • Oversee contract research organizations and other partners, ensuring clear goals, timelines, budgets, deliverables, data quality, and appropriate standard operating procedure- and good laboratory practice-aligned practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience using patient-derived samples, translational biomarkers, and high-dimensional data to bridge preclinical and clinical studies.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning-enabled drug discovery and collaboration with computational biology, data science, or cheminformatics teams.
  • Experience with investigational new drug-enabling studies.

Iambic Therapeutics develops therapeutics using an AI-driven discovery platform, focusing on oncology and neurological diseases in clinical-stage programs. The platform combines advanced AI models with automated experiments to predict molecular properties faster and with less data, speeding identification and optimization of drug candidates. It differentiates itself by maintaining an in-house pipeline alongside strategic pharmaceutical partnerships to advance programs and earn milestones and royalties. What believers are saying

  • Takeda’s February 9, 2026 deal could exceed $1.7 billion with royalties.
  • Iambic raised over $100 million on November 10, 2025, then $27.8 million in April 2026.
  • IAM1363 entered 53 sites by June 4, 2026, expanding execution momentum.

What critics are saying

  • IAM1363’s Phase 1 completion stretches to December 2028, delaying clear value inflection.
  • Takeda and Jazz partnership economics remain undisclosed, leaving revenue quality opaque.
  • A clinical miss in HER2 programs would puncture Iambic’s platform-validation story.

What makes Iambic Therapeutics unique

  • Tom Miller’s NeuralPLexer and wet-lab loop accelerated Takeda discovery on February 9, 2026.
  • IAM1363 is brain-penetrant and HER2-selective, spanning wild-type and mutant HER2 cancers.
  • Iambic pairs clinical programs with platform deals, unlike single-asset AI-biotech peers.
