Requirements
  • Two years of registration experience in a Level 1 trauma facility, hospital emergency department, or high-volume outpatient medical office is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical insurance products and benefits, state and federal medical assistance programs, authorization and referral requirements, and collection of copays is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Flowcast scheduling, registration, and visit management and the EPIC emergency department application is a plus.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The employee must satisfactorily complete the Cooper IDX training program, including registration, visit management, and eligibility and FSC selection.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • The ability to conduct patient interviews thoroughly and accurately under stressful conditions is required.
  • The ability to multitask in a busy, high-volume environment is required.
  • Computer proficiency is necessary.
  • A solid understanding of EMTALA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission regulations relating to patient access and emergency room registration is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform registration functions in a fast-paced, high-volume emergency department that provides 24/7 service.
  • Verify insurance and patient eligibility.
  • Support patient safety and compliance activities.
  • Collect revenue and patient copays.
  • Provide resource referrals and customer service.
  • Conduct patient interviews.
