Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • At least 12 years of relevant experience combining public accounting, accounting advisory, transaction advisory, or similar consulting experience.
  • Significant client-facing experience leading complex engagements and working directly with CFOs, Controllers, CAOs, other senior executives, and private equity sponsors.
  • A strong technical accounting foundation with advanced knowledge of US GAAP and experience with SEC and PCAOB requirements, including Regulation S-X and Article 11 pro forma financial information.
  • Experience with SEC reporting and registration statements, including S-1, S-4, 10-K, and 10-Q filings, SEC pre-clearance submissions, and comment letter responses.
  • Experience with M&A transactions and/or carve-out transactions.
  • Meaningful experience with IPOs, de-SPAC transactions, other capital markets transactions, or other complex transactions and reporting events.
  • Ability to own and lead an engagement from initial assessment and scoping through execution and completion.
  • A strong understanding of what is required to become and operate as a public company, including interdependencies across accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, internal controls, and technology.
  • Ability to assess complex or ambiguous client problems and develop a practical path forward.
  • Ability to explain complex accounting and reporting matters clearly and practically to senior executives and other stakeholders.
  • Strong project leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop teams and coach individuals at different levels.
  • Relationship-building and commercial instincts, an established network across the capital markets ecosystem, and the ability to leverage relationships to develop opportunities and expand client relationships.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a dynamic environment with a high degree of ownership.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed to meet client and business needs; travel is an expected part of the role.
Responsibilities
  • Lead complex IPO, capital markets, and accounting advisory engagements as a senior advisor to CFOs, Controllers, CAOs, and other client leaders.
  • Own IPO and capital markets engagements from readiness through execution and the transition to operating as a public company.
  • Lead IPO readiness assessments and translate findings into practical execution plans, priorities, and timelines.
  • Lead accounting and financial reporting workstreams related to S-1 and S-4 filings and amendments, PCAOB financial statement requirements, quarterization, de-SPAC transactions, spin-offs, debt and equity offerings, and other securities transactions.
  • Work with client management, underwriters, legal counsel, and auditors to coordinate transaction requirements, resolve issues, and maintain momentum.
  • Guide clients through accounting and reporting changes needed to operate as a public company, including close optimization, organizational readiness, reporting processes, and sustainable reporting calendars.
  • Advise clients on complex transaction-related accounting and financial reporting matters, including business combinations, carve-outs, debt and equity instruments, revenue recognition, leases, and other transaction-specific issues.
  • Lead financial reporting and accounting work for acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, restructurings, refinancings, GAAP conversions, and other significant business events.
  • Coordinate with Business Transformation, Risk Advisory, Tax, and other teams on transaction readiness and public company operations.
  • Provide technical guidance and resolve issues across multiple concurrent engagements.
  • Scope engagements, develop workplans, manage engagement economics, and ensure teams deliver high-quality work.
  • Build trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to support clients beyond the initial engagement.
  • Participate in business development, including relationship development, proposals, pitches, networking, and market-facing events.
  • Build and maintain relationships across the capital markets ecosystem and use them to identify opportunities, generate referrals, and expand Riveron's market presence.
  • Develop and mentor team members and contribute to developing future leaders within the practice.
  • Collaborate with Accounting Advisory leadership on staffing, technical resources, engagement delivery, and broader practice development.
  • Work onsite with clients and teams when needed for successful engagement delivery; travel varies by client needs, transaction activity, and location, averaging up to 30%, with some periods of more frequent travel around critical milestones.
  • Contribute to firm initiatives including recruiting, training, thought leadership, and community involvement, as well as Capital Markets Services practice and practice-building activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPA is strongly preferred.
  • IFRS experience is a plus.
