Event spotlight - The Future of the Tech Team.

Event spotlight - The Future of the Tech Team. Posted on 28 September 2026 The Future of the Tech Team: What's Coming and How to Be Ready At Leeds Digital Festival, Exalto joined forces with Codurance to ask a question many technology leaders are already grappling with: what will the tech team of the future look like? It clearly struck a chord. More than 80 people signed up for a room with capacity for 65, and the discussion generated more questions than we had time to answer. I joined Simon Shaw, Nayza Fioritta Neves Ferro and Macs Dickinson on the panel. While we came at the question from different perspectives, one theme ran through the conversation: the shape of technology teams is changing quickly. AI and automation are part of the reason. Business owners and shareholders want greater productivity, more value from technology investment and better control of costs. That is putting pressure on established operating models, particularly where large teams are organised around deep technical specialisms or spend significant time on repetitive work. This does not mean specialist expertise disappears. It does mean the work people do, and how teams are structured around that work, is likely to change. As routine tasks become easier to automate, there is growing value in people who can understand a business problem, work across disciplines, test new technology and turn an idea into something useful. We can see that shift in the language of hiring. Roles such as Forward Deployed Engineer are gaining attention, while AI is being added to familiar titles, such as AI Product Manager. But a new title alone tells us very little. What one organisation means by "AI skills" can be quite different from what another needs. For technology leaders, the question is less about predicting every new job title and more about understanding the work ahead. Which tasks will change? Which skills will become more valuable? And are teams being given the opportunity to adapt? A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a lively discussion. Thanks also to Simon, Nayza and Macs for sharing their perspectives, and to Hannah Pearce and Natalie Gray for making the event run so smoothly. We left with plenty more to talk about.

Codurance named an OpenAI Select Partner.

Codurance named an OpenAI Select Partner. 21 Aug 2026 Last updated: 20 Aug 2026 Rob gray, commercial Director. Prefer listening over reading? Press play and enjoy Codurance has been named a select partner in the OpenAI Partner Network. OpenAI's global program connects consulting firms, systems integrators, and technology companies with the enablement, training, and support needed to help organisations adopt OpenAI's models in production. OpenAI has made it clear that model capability is not what's holding enterprises back, it's the harder work of finding the right use cases, redesigning workflows, integrating with existing systems, and managing the change that comes with all of that. That's the space Codurance has operated in for over a decade: taking organisations through legacy modernisation, platform rebuilds, and delivery transformations with Software Craftsmanship as the foundation. Extending that discipline to how Codurance design, build, and govern OpenAI-powered delivery for clients is a logical next step. Why this matters for its clients What this means for its clients * A formal route into OpenAI's training and enablement, so its consultants build demonstrable expertise rather than picking things up on the job. * Closer visibility into how OpenAI's models and tooling are developing, which keeps its advice on agentic delivery and AI-assisted engineering grounded in what's coming, not just what's already out. * A clear path to build on this Select status over time, as Codurance grow the number of certified consultants and the depth of its OpenAI-related work. None of this changes how Codurance work with clients. It gives Codurance a formal channel for the same standards Codurance has always held: consultants who arrive capable, delivery that's judged on engineering quality, and treating AI as a tool to be used with care rather than a way to cut corners. "Being named an OpenAI Select Partner reflects the standards we've always held for how AI gets introduced into real engineering work: carefully, with proper testing, and with the client's long-term interests in mind. Being part of this network means our teams get direct access to OpenAI's training and technical resources, helping more of our clients get genuine value from these tools, not just experimentation." Steve Lydford, UK Managing Director at Codurance What's next Codurance will be certifying more Codurance experts through OpenAI's partner programme, and continuing to support its clients in adopting AI tooling across their businesses to drive value creation. If you're exploring how to bring OpenAI's models into your organisation's software delivery without losing engineering discipline along the way, get in touch with Codurance.
