Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Sports Administration, Business Management, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of similar professional golf experience in progressively responsible positions.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of golf course operations and practices.
  • Registration as a PGA apprentice or current membership in good standing with the PGA.
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, use hands, talk, and hear regularly.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds and perform active outdoor work.
  • Ability to comply with applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily management of all aspects of the golf shop and golf operation.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, staffing, disciplinary, and compensation activities for golf shop and golf operations staff.
  • Assist PGA TOUR players, members, and guests with their golfing needs.
  • Manage the Golf Shop during peak periods and maintain service standards.
  • Assist with employee performance reviews, disciplinary actions, development plans, training plans, and promotion or transfer assessments.
  • Assist with labor management, cost controls, labor planning, and scheduling for Golf Shop and Outside Golf Staff.
  • Oversee outside golf operations, including membership and guest services, practice facility setup and maintenance, course advisors, golf car maintenance, golf bag storage, and golf club repair activities.
  • Coordinate golf-related activities with Outside Golf Staff and Club Administration.
  • Promote golf by teaching and conducting player development programs and staffing club tournament events.
  • Maintain the playing standards required for Golf Professionals in the TPC Network.
  • Complete and submit Golf World Business Top 100 applications and presentations for review.
  • Establish and administer the club tournament program.
  • Assist with developing promotional materials for tournament programs.
  • Ensure locker room staff maintains service and cleanliness standards where applicable.
  • Maintain and replenish locker room towels and personal hygiene supplies where applicable.
  • Assist with developing golf operations and golf shop budgets and manage budget line items and general expenses.
  • Maintain control of employee uniforms and name tags.
  • Prepare monthly merchandise reports where applicable.
  • Check in merchandise and maintain orderly storage areas and displays at par stock inventory levels.
  • Assist with the purchase order, ordering, receiving, and physical inventory processes.
  • Answer telephones and schedule future starting-time reservations.
  • Manage pace of play and provide biweekly pace-of-play sheets where applicable.
  • Perform Assistant Golf Professional II functions as needed.
  • Complete special projects and other assigned duties.
