Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Must have three to five years of similar or related work experience.
  • Must be able to solve practical problems involving a variety of variables with limited standardization and interpret instructions.
  • Must be able to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Must be able to compose original correspondence, interpret written work instructions, interview job applicants, follow technical manuals, and maintain increased contact with people.
  • Must be able to physically perform heavy work, including exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and more than 100 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must be able to see detail at near range with or without correction.
  • Must be able to perform sedentary work, including occasional lifting or carrying of objects up to 10 pounds and occasional standing, walking, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must be available for overnight shifts.
  • Must complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully.
Responsibilities
  • Set department standards for customer service, employee relations, cleanliness, sanitation, professional appearance, and overall profitability.
  • Supervise the night stock crew, assign work duties, hold consultations with employees, and supervise and direct assistant managers, departments, and custodian crews.
  • Order products from the warehouse and grocery department, prepare pre-orders and orders, review store needs, coordinate work with assistant managers, and assign duties to part-time employees.
  • Coordinate the CARS system, including inventory management, reorder triggers, system maintenance, damage and mix-pick removal, inventory adjustments, order generation, and order review.
  • Unload trucks, break down pallets, pull pallets to the back room, and sort merchandise by aisle and product type.
  • Check in vendor deliveries piece by piece.
  • Supervise drop shipments and direct store deliveries.
  • Write the night stock schedule.
  • Monitor time-off, vacation, and sick-call requests.
  • Review and monitor weekly overtime hours.
  • Train new employees in facing, pull-downs, order tags, universal product codes, checking, sacking, and stocking.
  • Train supervisors in register handling, customer service, and department services.
  • Monitor productivity and conduct individual reviews with crew members.
  • Troubleshoot and coordinate repairs for store equipment, including electrical and cash-register systems, coolers, compressors, machine rooms, and display cases.
  • Maintain adherence to department and company guidelines for personal hygiene and dress.
  • Run back stock and understock, including cereal, paper, and juice, and fill product holes as needed.
  • Assist with customer service, checkout, checking, sacking, carry-outs, cash accountability, end-of-day reports, register opening and closing, and resolving customer issues in person and by telephone.
  • Meet with crew members weekly or as needed.
  • Set and reset new items and tags and update prices as needed.
  • Set in-store specials for prior advertising items, set prices, tag items, and raise prices when supply is gone.
  • Supervise produce and frozen-food trucks while unloading and ensure items are placed in the proper coolers.
  • Assist in other store areas as needed.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
  • Select new employees and act on employee problems.
  • Recommend employee transfers, promotions, discipline, discharges, and salary increases.
  • Report to work as scheduled and on time.
