Viridien wins five-year contract for UK North Sea monitoring. Under the contract, Viridien will support post-decommissioning monitoring using a UK OPRED-approved system. France-based Viridien has secured a five-year contract from Ithaca Energy to provide an integrated environmental monitoring and marine situational awareness solution for the UK North Sea's Greater Stella Area. The contract will see Viridien support post-decommissioning monitoring using a system approved by the UK's Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED). Under the agreement, Viridien will deploy an integrated monitoring solution instead of traditional guard-vessel coverage. The solution combines Sercel's Marlin Vessel Tracking and Alerts platform with Viridien's SeaScope service. The Marlin system tracks vessel movements in real time and provides automated alerts for offshore infrastructure, geofences and proximity, while also displaying satellite imagery and sea surface data from SeaScope. Sercel CEO Jérôme Denigot said: "Offshore Technology is proud to support Ithaca Energy with an innovative solution that brings together Sercel's Marlin software and Viridien's SeaScope satellite monitoring service. "This five-year award demonstrates how these complementary technologies can help offshore operators monitor and manage their producing and decommissioned assets by identifying potential risks earlier and responding with confidence." SeaScope uses automation, metocean data and interpretation to conduct large-scale surveillance of ocean areas surrounding offshore assets. Viridien said the solution will give Ithaca Energy improved situational awareness, helping it detect potential releases, identify their sources and respond effectively to incidents involving its assets or other parties' activities. By integrating vessel data and environmental intelligence into a single operational display, operators can proactively manage risks during post-decommissioning monitoring. Last month, Viridien entered into a multi-client partnership with Société de Pétroles du Sénégal, Senegal's state petroleum company. The agreement sets a framework for delivering subsurface intelligence across the MSGBC Basin, spanning Mauritania, Senegal, the Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea Conakry. The partnership is intended to support subsurface characterisation, technical standards and capacity building in the region. Give your business an edge with its leading industry insights.
Viridien commences Walker Ridge Reimaging Extension in US Gulf. Viridien has recently launched its Walker Ridge Reimaging Extension in the US Gulf. With the support of industry partners, the initiative expands on the success of its original Walker Ridge Reimaging program. Fast-track results for this new project are already available. The 4,406 km[2] extension covers 189 new OCS blocks in the highly prospective Walker Ridge area, in addition to 46.5 blocks overlapping the original Walker Ridge Reimaging program over a 1,085 km[2] area. The total program coverage of 5,491 km[2] over 235.5 blocks will deliver a premium exploration dataset across a large acreage position with significant infrastructure-led exploration (ILX) potential. Viridien is applying its seismic imaging expertise and advanced Time-Lag Full Waveform Inversion (TLFWI) technology to enhance subsurface understanding and provide greater geological insight into this complex deepwater environment. The project will deliver a higher-quality data set over the extension area, seamlessly merged with the original Walker Ridge Reimaging volume, with final results expected to be available in early 2027. Dechun Lin, Head of Earth Data, Viridien, said: "The Walker Ridge Reimaging Extension program builds directly on the proven success of our earlier Walker Ridge multi-client survey which generated strong commercial interest. By applying our latest Time-Lag FWI technology, we are giving clients a powerful exploration tool across a large, highly prospective area with strong ILX potential."

Viridien kicks off Phase I of Guyana Shallow Water 3D seismic survey. Viridien has commenced Guyana Shallow Water 3D Phase I, following its previously announced agreement with the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and BGP to launch a major multi-client 3D seismic acquisition and imaging program offshore Guyana. The program has received strong industry support. Phase I will cover shallow water acreage across Lot 3 and connect to legacy surveys in the area that will later be reimaged. For the project, the seismic data will be acquired by BGP, and Viridien will deliver high-end imaging using its proprietary advanced workflows, including shallow water demultiple and time-lag full-waveform inversion (TLFWI). Dechun Lin, Head of Earth Data, Viridien, said: "Our Guyana program is designed to enhance subsurface understanding, support future exploration planning and help unlock the hydrocarbon potential of this exciting frontier basin. The resulting ultramodern 3D data set will also make a valuable contribution to Guyana's broader geological knowledge base and future licensing efforts."
