- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification is required.
- The ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and coworkers is required.
- The employee must successfully pass the Cooper University Health Care Dysrhythmia Telemetry Exam with a minimum score of 80%, including 100% accuracy on all lethal arrhythmia identification questions.
- The employee must work 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, two shifts every week, every third preassigned weekend, every other holiday, and one hallmark holiday.
- Assist with direct, indirect, and non-patient care responsibilities.
- Maintain records and handle intra-departmental and interdepartmental communications, including written and electronic medical records.
- Follow policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Document telemetry snippets in GE Airstrip every four hours.
- Document each monitored patient's rhythm interpretation and measure heart rate, PR, QRS, and QT intervals when applicable.
- Use the Telemetry Report Sheet to document patient rhythms, ectopic events, and rhythm changes.
- Document each patient's hourly rhythm and heart rate on the Telemetry Report Sheet.
- Notify nursing staff about loss of telemetry signal, weak batteries, and changes in patient condition, including rhythm changes, ectopic events, and significant heart-rate changes.
- Use the Event Report Sheet to document notifications to nursing staff about patient rhythms and ectopic changes.
- Document escalation calls through the chain of command when nursing staff response is delayed.
- Use the Emergency Intercom to communicate life-threatening rhythms and ectopic events to the nursing unit.
- Zero to two years of experience is preferred.
- Previous telemetry experience is preferred.
- Completion of a dysrhythmia course is preferred.
- Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician certification is preferred.
- Certified Cardiographic Technician certification is preferred.
