About the job
- Five years of supervisory experience are required.
- At least five years of industrial maintenance experience, including three years operating a large ammonia refrigeration system, are required.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Candidates must communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
- Candidates must have an advanced understanding of ammonia refrigeration.
- Candidates must be physically capable of wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus, chemical suit, and respirator and serving as a member of the emergency response team.
- Candidates must be available 24/7 for emergency call-in and willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Candidates must complete 24-hour HAZWOPER certification training, Incident Commander training, and annual Emergency Response Team training.
- Monitor and maintain refrigeration equipment, production equipment, and boiler systems through routine checks, equipment lubrication, and repair or replacement of parts as needed, while maintaining appropriate records and reports.
- Respond to ammonia releases within the scope of training.
- Comply with, maintain, and update Process Safety Management policies, procedures, and compliance reviews.
- Assist with hazard analysis, Process Safety Management audits, and related plant regulatory compliance programs.
- Coordinate activities required to maintain operating permits for refrigeration and boiler systems.
- Comply with OSHA and company safety standards and policies.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with regulations relating to food safety and personnel safety as they pertain to department functions.
- Participate in and assist with food safety audits and personnel safety training.
- Prior service on an Emergency Response Team is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience of technically trained professionals is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
- Refrigeration Engineers and Technicians Association certification is preferred.
