Requirements
  • Must be MA-Certified or possess an MA-Interim License and pass the exam within the 90 day probationary period
  • Must have a Certificate of Completion from a Medical Assistant program
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support CPR within 90 days of hire date and maintain current BLS CPR throughout employment
  • Pre-hire and annual employee health screening required
  • Annual influenza vaccine required; only exception is for employees with a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration; exempt employees must wear a mask during flu season
  • Must be able to travel to another Sea Mar sites due to staffing and patient needs
  • Ability to read and write proficiently in English

  • Must be able to interact sensitively with people of diverse backgrounds
Responsibilities
  • Tracking and documentation of all clinical measures and outcomes (Clinical Quality Measures, Meaningful Use, etc.)
  • Using established protocols and practice, complete all provider referrals for each patient
  • Administer injections and distribute oral medications under physicians’ order
  • Assist the medical provider with charting office visits
  • Ensure communication and documentation for comprehensive patient care coordination
  • Perform venipuncture
  • Room patients and guide them through exit
  • Complete quality improvement audits and participate in organizational committees as assigned
  • Pre-Huddle preparation and participation in Care Team Huddle to ensure collection of all relative clinic forms, lab and x-ray reports, review of patient manager and medication confirmation process
  • Prepare the patient for visit with the care team; obtain subjective information and vital signs
  • Stock exam and procedure rooms and disinfect per protocol
  • Administer injections and various medications per order; document medication administration
  • Maintain and reconcile medication and immunization data/list
  • Attend regular staff meetings and in-service training
  • Maintain infection control and standard precautions
  • Assist with GYN exams, minor procedures, I&Ds
  • Maintain AIDET customer service approach
  • Complete point of care referrals for patients including specialty care and care coordination
  • Obtain laboratory tests and results; obtain patient notes/records from hospitals and other providers
  • Maintain positive collaborative relations with coworkers, specialists and community organizations
  • Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; sign confidentiality policy yearly
  • Learn and be proficient in Sea Mar’s EHR and Practice Management Systems; demonstrate competency in auditing and data extraction
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly desired
  • Ambulatory care experience preferred
  • Experience with Family Medicine settings preferred
  • Experience with electronic health records and health information systems including Sea Mar’s EHR, SharePoint, Arcadia, OneHealth Portal, HealthPlanFinder, etc. (or willingness to learn)
  • Ability to analyze and present data for reports
  • Strong customer service skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to travel to other Sea Mar sites as needed
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
