About the job

Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with product discovery, requirements synthesis, and prioritization in real operating environments.
  • Ability to ship production code and be accountable for its behavior in production, regardless of how it was produced.
  • Serious agentic development practice, including parallel-agent task decomposition, context management, review and reconciliation of output, test and evaluation design, examples of caught failures, and examples of decisions not to use an agent; confidential details may be anonymized.
  • End-to-end ownership of work and accountability for whether it worked, not merely whether it shipped.
  • Sufficient backend, data, and deployment competence to design APIs and data models, integrate systems, deploy and instrument services, and independently debug production issues, while collaborating with platform, security, and domain experts where appropriate.
  • Judgment about correctness in nondeterministic systems, including evaluations, observability, failure-mode analysis, guardrails, human escalation, and rollback.
  • Ability to explain technical decisions and tradeoffs to non-engineers, document them clearly, and incorporate operator feedback.
  • Experience building within operational realities such as email, spreadsheets, chat threads, and phone calls, rather than replacing them with solutions operators will not adopt.
Responsibilities
  • Observe workflows at operators’ desks and interview operators to validate observations; identify work suitable for safe automation and work that must remain under human judgment.
  • Decompose problems into parallelizable work, direct development agents, control context, reconcile conflicting outputs, test results, and take responsibility for the final system.
  • Own the path from validated need to monitored production, using platform-provided tooling, guardrails, continuous integration and continuous delivery, evaluation infrastructure, architecture review, and peer review.
  • Partner with operators and their managers on rollout, training, feedback, and iteration, and remain accountable for actual adoption.
  • Ensure releases reduce operational burden, use operators’ existing channels, require minimal instruction, and fail safely and visibly.
  • Own the domain backlog and work sequencing jointly with affected business leaders, documenting tradeoffs.
  • Define success using operator-relevant measures against an established baseline; report accuracy, error direction, and human escalation rates.
  • Ship maintainable, tested, observable, secure systems with explicit evaluations, audit trails, rollback paths, and safe failure modes; hold agent-generated work to the same production standards as other work.
  • Within the first 90 days, learn how at least two desks operate by observing them, select and baseline a workflow problem before building, and put a small production solution into use by an operator.
  • Within the first six months, make one desk workflow measurably lighter with a documented baseline, named operator owner, measured reduction in manual work, and agreed failure behavior; establish working evaluation and measurement for shipped work; and maintain a prioritized backlog co-owned with business leaders with explicit sequence, tradeoffs, owners, and expected outcomes.
  • Within the first year, deploy production automation across more than one operational function, with a named owner, monitoring, rollback, audit trail, and a desk-controlled stop path for each; demonstrate adoption using operator-relevant measures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in food distribution, logistics, retail and consumer packaged goods, trading, enterprise resource planning or electronic data interchange, financial operations, or other trading-partner ecosystems.
  • Experience in ambiguous, high-ownership environments where defining and building were tightly coupled, such as as a founder, early employee, product engineer, or forward-deployed engineer.
