Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; Architecture or Landscape Architecture; Construction or Project Management degrees are preferred.
  • One to three years of progressively responsible experience managing the design, construction, and contract administration of facilities renovations and new construction.
  • Computer literacy with general knowledge of computer-aided design and drafting, Microsoft Project, or other software.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills for daily interaction with faculty and staff, clients, university managers, team members, and public agency officials.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially via phone and Zoom.
  • The ability to prepare clear and concise reports, a variety of matrices, oral presentations, and code analyses.
Responsibilities
  • Manage small projects from design concept stage through construction documents, bidding, construction management, closeout, and turnover to clients and operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Assist existing project management staff with medium to large projects.
  • Coordinate project teams composed of clients, consultant architects and engineers, construction managers, contractors, operations and maintenance personnel, contracting specialists, and fellow project managers.
  • Review project approvals from internal University entities, appropriate government agencies, and community interest groups for accuracy.
  • Track adherence to project budgets, schedules, the campus plan, quality standards, and code standards.
  • Aid the project management team during project design reviews and on-site inspections of all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Help resolve problems involving conceptual planning principles or practices within the context of campus planning.
  • Provide written reports, documentation, plan revisions, and database updates to ensure timely communication of project updates.
  • Perform special project activities requiring technical expertise for project completion.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently with budgets ranging from $5,000 to $1 million per project, as well as small-scale designs, problem-solving analyses, and reports.
  • Review all projects managed by the office for adequacy of complete design, code compliance, and University standards.
  • Coordinate project design issues with Georgetown clients and staff counterparts in other Planning and Facilities Management areas, the Department of Public Safety, the Office of University Information Services, Student Affairs, and Residential Living.
