Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of legal assistant or legal support experience is required.
  • A High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel is required.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the electronic e-docket and maintain the secondary docket.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing emails by acknowledging, distributing, and saving them to the electronic document repository.
  • Correspond with clients, attorneys, and staff to ensure instructions are received and deadlines are met.
  • Submit conflict checks and new client matter information through OPEN, prepare engagement letters, and assist with client billing as required.
  • Prepare documents supporting patent prosecution by accurately and promptly completing appropriate forms, documentation, and other administrative tasks in draft for attorney review.
  • Provide document production services, including styling and formatting documents, proofreading, and checking formatting, spelling, and grammatical accuracy.
  • Interact professionally and promptly with people at all levels in the firm and with clients by reporting filing information and responding to questions appropriately.
  • Respond appropriately to emails, telephone calls, letters, and visitors; use resources to resolve and answer routine questions.
  • Schedule appointments and arrange conferences and travel; maintain the attorney's calendar and contacts.
  • Create, organize, and maintain client files using NetDocuments, and follow up on pending matters.
  • Set up meetings, ensuring required materials are organized in advance, and greet clients and guests as necessary.
  • Prepare expense reimbursement requests.
  • Cross-train to support Dallas office Intellectual Property assistants and attorneys.
Desired Qualifications
  • Intellectual Property support experience is desired.
  • An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred.
