Requirements
  • Graduate from an approved A.C.R. school or a JRCERT-approved school of Radiology and provide proof of current active certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Work in a specialty location such as ASC, Orthopedics, or Urgent Care at least 80% of the time, participate in the departmental weekend and holiday rotation, or work as a float as defined by the Imaging Operations Manager.
  • Maintain current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography.
  • Maintain professional behavior and adjust to various personalities.
  • Control emotions and maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.
  • Possess manual dexterity to use a keyboard and handle equipment and appliances.
  • Be able to perform occasional heavy lifting, including transferring patients to X-ray tables; push, pull, stoop, bend, lift, and twist; lift patients from carts to tables with assistance; work with arms above the head; wear a lead apron for extended periods; walk or stand for extended periods; and assist patients to and from tables.
  • Obtain CPR certification according to American Heart Association guidelines within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain a complete patient history, including previous related exams that may help evaluate the current exam.
  • Produce quality radiographs and select proper technical factors for each patient according to established protocols.
  • Provide proper shielding in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards and apply ALARA principles when selecting technical factors.
  • Operate equipment as directed and assist with a variety of equipment and procedures as needed.
  • Know and follow procedures and protocols within the Radiology Department, Surgery Department, and Pain Clinic as applicable.
  • Process films using an automatic processor at the MOHA location; assemble films and images for radiologist interpretation; and clean cassettes regularly.
  • Use DR/DRX image acquisition and manipulation, including correcting patient information and image detail in PACS.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness and cooperate with personnel in the proper conduct of the department.
  • Assist patients with transport within Radiology and throughout the Springfield Clinic campus.
  • Use Springfield Clinic computers and telephones as needed for patient care.
  • Use computer systems including RIS for scheduling, rescheduling, replacing and completing exams, entering patient histories and comments, entering stop payments, and printing; and use EHR, PACS, the Employee Benefit system, and the Radiology home page.
  • Follow sterile and sterilization procedures for sterile supplies; perform general scheduler duties; follow Prompt Care workflow; and obtain image reports according to workflow.
  • Put away incoming supplies, inform the supervisor of needed supplies, and check supplies for expiration dates regularly.
  • Report equipment failures to the supervisor, troubleshoot equipment problems as appropriate, and call for service when necessary.
  • Submit forms to request paid time off and enter time off in the payroll tracking system.
  • Provide orientation and training to new technologists and other Radiology staff.
  • Provide coverage in Ambulatory Surgery, Pain Clinic when assigned there, and Diagnostic Radiology across varying shifts.
  • Obtain diagnostic radiographs using proper exposure factors consistent with ALARA and protocols established by Springfield Clinic radiologists.
  • Operate a C-arm when working in ASC or Pain Clinic.
  • Comply with Springfield Clinic incident-reporting policies and procedures and complete required OSHA and Springfield Clinic training.
  • Provide customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
