About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience in parcel billing audit, including carrier billing, accessorials and surcharges, contract-rate validation, disputes, and recovery.
  • At least 5 years of experience working with carrier invoice data (EDI, API, or flat file) and reconciling it to finance, including general ledger coding and payment files.
  • At least 3 years of experience partnering with a software or technology team to configure audit rules, tolerances, and dispute workflows, translating audit findings into repeatable checks.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a client-facing or account-management role, owning senior stakeholders and escalations, ideally with enterprise retailers or brands.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading a team of audit analysts, specialists, or similar, setting quality and pace.
Responsibilities
  • Work with product and technology teams to improve Always-On Audit, providing audit expertise to determine what the service checks and how it resolves issues.
  • Turn billing discrepancies into repeatable audit rules, tolerance thresholds, and automated dispute workflows so the service can identify and resolve more issues automatically.
  • Represent audit in roadmap and priority decisions, and ensure the service supports clear financial reporting, payment file generation, and finance-system integration.
  • Build and run a repeatable client onboarding process, including assembling the stakeholder team, gathering requirements, running demos, setting up invoice feeds, reviewing early findings, configuring reporting dashboards and audit tolerances, and conducting side-by-side comparisons with clients’ current audit providers.
  • Ensure each onboarding meets proof points for accurate discrepancy detection, complete reporting and data feeds, correct general ledger coding, an effective dispute process, and reliable payment file generation.
  • Scope each engagement to the client’s goals, including recovery, reduced manual work, better visibility, faster close, or stronger carrier accountability.
  • Serve as the client point of contact for questions, concerns, and disputes that the service and Audit Advisors cannot resolve directly.
  • Provide dedicated audit oversight for managed-service clients through recurring audit reviews, rule tuning, and resolution of repeat issues.
  • Own escalated disputes by carrying denied claims to the carrier’s account team and tracking them to closure.
  • Work with the carrier operations team and carriers to automate more of the reconciliation process.
  • Move carriers from portal and email disputes toward automated filing and reconciliation, addressing gaps in dispute and data-exchange maturity across carriers.
  • Work carrier by carrier on invoice format, level of detail, surcharge and accessorial data, and dispute mechanics.
  • Lead the Audit Advisors and own the speed, accuracy, and coverage of their work.
  • Set and maintain the distinction between manager-level and advisor-level work, adjusting it as automation increases.
  • Manage staffing and workload through the peak invoice season, especially December through February.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with major carriers’ dispute systems and filing windows, and knowledge of where regional carriers fall short.
  • Retail finance context, including the 4-5-4 close, transportation accruals, and shipped-not-invoiced treatment.
  • Exposure to ACH settlement and payment authorization models.

What believers are saying

  • August 2026 Always-On Audit targets freight audit, a painful, high-margin enterprise workflow.
  • May 2026 International Bridge partnership opens Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico shipping.
  • September 2026 FreightWaves says Shipium will push Always-On Audit across its base.

What critics are saying

  • Competitors like Manhattan Associates and Blue Yonder already own enterprise logistics workflows.
  • Shipium still depends on carrier partners; surcharge disputes and service failures hit retention.
  • If carriers or ERP vendors replicate shipment-ledger auditing, Shipium loses its moat.

What makes Shipium unique

  • Always-On Audit links shipment execution, expected cost, and financial controllership in one ledger.
  • Shipium's pre-integrated carrier network spans FedEx, USPS Direct, DHL eCommerce, and partners.
  • Founder team built Amazon's shipping stack, then shipped enterprise logistics at Shipium.

Shipium launches Always-On Audit to provide shippers complete financial control.

Shipium launches Always-On Audit to provide shippers complete financial control. Aug. 27 2026 06:47 AM New product uses AI to validate expected shipment charges in real-time, then tie-out audit actions downstream. Shipium, the industry's first promise-to-payment shipping platform, today announced Always-On Audit, a platform-native financial product that validates carrier charges against expected rates and contracts in real-time, and then automates integrated auditing workflows for complete financial controllership. Carrier billing complexity has accelerated as surcharge and accessorial structures have grown. Historical solutions, such as manual AP reconciliation or outsourced firms, all operate downstream of the shipment, working backward from invoices that arrive weeks after goods have shipped, leading to several challenges for shippers, including lost disputes and slow optimization cycles. Always-On Audit changes that. Because Shipium generates the rate and selects the carrier at execution, the expected cost of each shipment already exists as a platform record. Validation runs against that record rather than reconstructing it from the invoice, and findings feed back to the carrier selection rules and contract data that produced them. "Customers can lay the financial controllership plane over the operations plane for the first time ever," said Penny Allen, SVP AI, Product & Engineering at Shipium. The breakthrough capability stems from Shipium's creation of a shipment ledger, the only end-to-end record of a shipment that collects and organizes all data and decisions along the lifecycle of a shipment. Customers can take on audit puzzles in real-time in ways they were never able to do before. "Shipium has always been the system of record for what shipped. Always-On Audit now also makes it the system of record for what that shipment should have cost. That is the same platform answering a question Finance has never been able to ask of Operations," said Jason Murray, CEO and Co-founder of Shipium. The launch of Always-On Audit ushers in expanded use of shipping AI technology on the platform. Customers have access to an increasing number of agents that will help automate the type of manual work found in the audit industry that is expensive, prone to error, and lacks feedback loops. Shipium's agentic innovations in this space will help customers reduce errors and save money in ways not possible before AI. "We at Shipium have always taken a pragmatic approach to AI because of the critical nature of supply chain technology in the operations of our customers. AI needs to be reliable and deliver value to customers to justify bringing it to market. The audit industry is the perfect for scaled agentic workflows that will generate real outcomes our customers will love," said Mr. Murray. "Shipium already knows what every shipment is supposed to cost because it makes the rating and routing decision in the first place, which means the audit runs continuously against that intent rather than arriving months later as a credit request," said Brandon Friez, SVP Global Logistics and Supply Chain Intelligence at American Eagle Outfitters.

IB partnered with Shipium to improve non-continental delivery performance for their customers.

IB partnered with Shipium to improve non-continental delivery performance for their customers. Shipium, the leading Shipping AI platform for modern operators, today announced a partnership with International Bridge (IB), a logistics provider with over 20 years of dedicated expertise in shipping to non-continental U.S. destinations. Through this partnership, IB's flagship service, IB Non-Con, is available to Shipium customers, bringing 2 - 5-day delivery to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and other U.S. territories. International Bridge has spent more than two decades building dedicated logistics infrastructure for the destinations most carriers treat as an afterthought. IB Non-Con is a zone-skipping air network with on-the-ground presence at every destination - including all major Hawaiian Islands, Anchorage and Juneau in Alaska, and San Juan and surrounding facilities in Puerto Rico. The service consistently delivers parcels in 2-5 days at approximately 30% savings versus standard carrier rates, with bilingual customer support and full accountability through every stage of the journey. Shipium provides the system-of-record for shipping data within enterprise supply chains, serving brands, retailers, and logistics service providers who need fast, affordable, and on-time delivery. As enterprise shippers look to expand reach into underserved markets, the ability to add a specialized non-continental partner directly into a single platform is becoming a competitive necessity. With this integration, Shipium customers can route eligible orders to IB Non-Con through the same workflow they use for mainland shipments - no separate operations, no zone surcharge surprises. Together, the two companies are addressing a commonly overlooked opportunity. More than 5 million U.S. residents in Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico depend on e-commerce for everyday goods, yet most mainland retailers either exclude these destinations or surcharge them out of viability. The combination of IB's purpose-built infrastructure and Shipium's optimization platform makes serving these customers reliably and profitably feasible at enterprise scale. "Non-continental shipping has been an afterthought in this industry for too long, and the result is millions of customers who deserve better service," said Shoshana Grove, CEO at International Bridge. "Shipium's platform is the right place for IB Non-Con to reach modern shippers. Their customers can plug into our network in days, not quarters, and start serving Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico with the same reliability they expect on the mainland." "International Bridge has built something genuinely rare - twenty years of operational expertise on the routes that everyone else treats as edge cases," said Jason Murray, Co-founder and CEO of Shipium. "Adding IB Non-Con to our pre-integrated carrier network gives our customers a credible, fast, and cost-effective option for destinations that have historically forced them to either absorb the cost or skip the order entirely. We're proud to partner with IB." About shipium. Shipium is an end-to-end shipping platform for modern operators. The platform improves shipping speed and on-time-delivery by coordinating previously disconnected steps of the supply chain through an API-first platform deeply integrated into existing systems. Founded by the same team who created Amazon's shipping stack, customers experience the same enterprise-grade performance from estimated delivery dates on the website down to shipment execution at the warehouse.
